I just hope Sideshow holds on long enough to bring us Gimli. It would suck not having any villains or characters like Theoden or Elrond but I need the Fellowship 9. If I don't get them, the rest of the line will be useless to me.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Exclusive came in with an really low ES because of many of the factors that were going into it.

I bought it direct because in reality GTG is my favorite character from the whole LOTR saga and its a great representation to have IMHO. If it cost $150 I probably would have gotten him but I will say this the new $90 pricepoint with Indy, The Dead, Star Wars and GI Joe all running very close to these hits my buying of LOTR will definitely stick to the Fellowship and some choice villains and not into Completist like I had originally entailed.

I might even go back and pick them all up once the entire Fellowship is available. I don't think we'll be getting the complete lineup in the other lines--it's certainly not going to happen in PF form. Possibly a diorama might do it, but not as nine separate pieces each depicting one of the characters. If you want that, get into the 12" line.

That is exactly how I feel as well. I really want the Fellowship to be completed. I want it so badly that I will probably pay any price to get it. But, beyond that, and two or three of the more "famous" villains (such as a Ringwraith or Saruman), the price is already at a point where I will pass. $90+ for a nameless Orc, or even a nameless armored figure or armored variant of an existing figure, is just too much for a 12" figure for me.

And if you look at the new Ghost in the Shell Medicom figure - a standard female body, anime sculpt with a grey jumpsuit and twice the price of Gandalf. Old greybeard is a fantastic bargain!

Its a good point about Mokoto, $175 is a lot for what is a fairly basic figure. Very well made and tailoring looks excellent. But still, when the earlier price for those kinds of figures (Kenshiro) was $150, getting bumped up another $25 hurts.

I hope Gimli is offered next. If so, I will consider my Fellowship complete. Complete enough for me.

I'll pick up any "villains" offered, maybe not nameless Orcs but I doubt they'd bother with a nameless Orc. He'd have to be 'someone'.

I'd go for:

Ringwraithe
Morgul Lord
Gothmog
Saruman
Lurtz

I'd also like a Gollum, but I'm not sure how they would do the naked little guy.

Those listed above would be my wants as well... maybe not Gotmog, but the rest for sure.

And I know it won't happen, especially with the line wavering... but I still want a 1/6 Sauron :monkey2:monkey2 I want it soooo bad, maybe they can give that project to Hot Toys, I'm sure they could make it work.

Aren't people using the statue of Sauron for that role?

And I'll pretend you didn't knock Gothmog. :)

If they're gonna make an "Orc", who else was significant but the General?

Well to be fair, I don't think it is a standard body...

...Medicom has partnered with Kaiyodo and Perfect-Studio to create the figure, with a unique body sculpture and design...

I agree, the Motoko is WAY TOO much. I can see getting this one on ebay for cheaper later. However, it does make the Gandalf seem like a bargain like Darklord Dave said. For a character of this level and detailing, 130 seems to be the max for a Medicom toy. I will have Motoko, but I will wait for ebay. I already have my Gandalf on order from one of the discount sites.

I didn't knock Gothmog, I love the Toybiz figure of him... probably one of their to 10 figures. But I'm not sure if I would buy him over say a Lurtz... and I kind of liked some of the other generic orc designs better :monkey3

And you could definitley use the statue of Sauron, but I'd personally rather have a poseable figure. I'm just funny that way, kinda like people who want Gothmog figures :monkey1

I wonder if this is another place Hot Toys could help out. Perhaps a thin, fitted rubber outer body over the 8" posable plastic body? Something akin to the warrior ALIENS rubber, or the upcoming Davy Jones? Just a thought...

I just watched the second disk of the extended Return of the King last night. It'll be a really sad thing if this line doesn't go past the 9.

There are so many incredible figures in that movie. Gandalf the White, Theoden, Eomer, and Eowyn in armor, Faramir in armor, Merry & Pippin in armor, Frodo & Sam as orcs, the Witch King, Denethor, Aragorn at the Black Gates...nevermind Saruman, and all the possible orcs.

It'll just plain suck if this dies after 10 figures.

If the line ends too soon it will be a victim of 3 things:

1. Lack of film support
2. Long development time
3. Cost

Let's face it, LotR mania has faded. There is nothing to support the line other than true fanatics. These figures take a while to get right. This isn't Star Wars where the costumes are based on war gear. Most of this stuff is custom made and has to be researched. And yea, the cost has driven people away but it's a factor tied to the first two issues.

Maybe if the Hobbit gets more off the ground we'll see an increase of LOTR mania. But also the thing to keep in mind is this line has always sold slower than Star Wars... so Gandalf being still available isn't all that different than past releases.
