The Journal looks surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting it to be of such quality and it comes as a pleasant surprise.

The head sculpt simply blows me away..

Man, let's hope thats true. If Gandald looks this good Sauruman or an orc or Ringwraith would be awesome :rock :rock :rock

At least from initial photos this looks like the first 1/6 LOTR that is a total homerun :rock

Nice!! Maybe this will pump enough life back in the line to finish the Fellowship

A nice thought, but unless a new figure debuts during Spook, I think Gandalf will just be a wasted spark. If more product was out there right now, Gandalf could help support, at best he'll help them sell off the rest of the hobbits but people are still going to look at this figure, no matter how nice, and think, ya he's cool, but there's nothing new??? No other figures on the horizon hurts a lot of the favor he'd bring with his quality.

For me personally it'll be hard to top frodo. ( i know some people have a problem with his eye color but i don't) And think, those pics are still not really that good (thx my lord) And SS's site pics always never bring out the figure totally. So the best is still to come. I guess we can all judge that crappy 1st picture we got now and realize how bad it really was.

I'm at peace, he looks fantastic!

Yup, if the base body isn't loose, I'd call it a totall success. Paint looks great, sculpt still shines, tailoring phenominal, detailing on accessories wonderful. Don't see much wrong with this one. Hat should stay on fine, but that's the only other point needing him in our hands to figure out.

Do you guys think we lost some shadowing in the beard at all? (not that i even really care at this point he looks so good)

Actually my #1 LOTR so far is Boromir... except for the wonky hair I love that figure. But he's not a character I enjoy as much as Gandalf. Frodo is a close 2nd, but I think the weak legs and monotone skin tone over time have bothered me... also the cheap-o ring and chain was a big flub.

I wish i could zoom in on this one i like it the best ( i will display mine with the staff and hat on next to frodo)

Yeah he looks great. The thing I was the most worried about from PPO until this morning was how that book was going to turn out but thankfully it looks even better than I think the proto did-- I was worried it would look like a book sculpt with a sticker stuck on.

SS rocked this one. Hopefully it will give the 1:6 line the shot in the arm it needed to survive.
