Gandalf or Sabretooth?

For some reason I thought Sabretooth was a better looking statue according to you guys, but I guess i underestimated Gandalf. The funny thing is when i saw it at Comic Con, I was not as impressed as I thought I was going to be, but I was highly impressed with Sabretooth when i saw it the first time.....

Not really! I wanted a second opinion about it because I think now I might have made a mistaken thinking that Sabre was a better PF. Gandalf is an amazing piece but I was expecting the beard to be more detailed and when I saw it at the Con, I was a bit disappointed.

However, everyone seems to love it so maybe I didn't look hard enough and they had the head with the hat and he hatless version is better in my opinon.....

So, I'm still torn because I like both.....

I'd pick Gandalf over Sabertooth. I know a lot of folks had issues with the cloth on Sabertooth, which doesn't really bother me, but I just find the piece overall to be rather boring. I think it looks nice paired up with Wolverine and perhaps that is the way it's supposed to be. There really is nothing special about the piece that I'm attracted to.

With Gandalf, on the other hand, I'm impressed with the fantastic likeness of McKellan, and the paint apps haven't ruined that likeness. And I think that the detailing and weathering on the clothing is amazing. Plus, I can look at the PF and am instantly reminded of Mines of Moria. I like that connection to the movie; it's the reason why I buy these collectibles.

Of course, in the end, it's what you like. Each piece speaks to everyone in different ways.

Gandalf is an amazing piece but I was expecting the beard to be more detailed and when I saw it at the Con, I was a bit disappointed.

Not sure how much more detailed hair can be in a sculpted piece, it's already goes down to the small strands close to the face. Sabretooth's mane is much less detailed than Gandalf's beard.

If you were set on a more detailed beard you could always get it repainted. Small Studios recently did a 1/6 Gandalf repaint that was mind boggeling!

I think I meant the sculpt itself more than the paint job. I also saw the Gandalf maquette at the Con and I thought the beard was better done with more detail.

Don't get me wrong, I love the PF, but if the beard had deeper strands it would look better, like the maquette...

If the case is painting only to make it look more detail, than I got lucky cause I'm a model kit painter and that will be an easy job for me......

Not necessarily..... I think Sabretooth has a great expression and although the outfit is just okay, the whole pose is very menacing and powerful. The mane is well done and the hair is amazing. really well sculpted....

Gandalf has a great presence and the likeness is spot on. The light feature is so cool but the detail on the beard leave me wanting more.

I saw both in person and I want them but can get only one......

Yeah, there's no doubt....I finally got the exclusive converted and put it on Flex pay. Sabre is cool but this PF is just out of this world.

Mr. Trevor Grove did it again.... This will be my 7th sculpt by Trevor and I can't wait to see the other ones he has in stock for us in the future....
