Thank you for checking it out. yeah, the likeness is good but could be better and the lip stick but it does look nice. Yeah, being next to GTG could really emphasize some of these issues.

If I don't get GTG from SS I will flex him after the first of the year.

Go for it, man. I think there will be a lot of sad folks who will regret not getting this one when it finally does sell out. IIRC, it took about as long for the Berserker PF (non-EX) to finally sell out, and when it did there were some broken hearts out there. Including mine.

The GTG PF has got me wanting to get the other PFs in the line-up as well. Up until now I only had the Moria Orc EX, and had the Berserker on pre-order (canceled at the last minute, which is a decision I still regret). Looking forward to Gollum/Smeagol EX, and will be on the hunt for the others as well. The PFs I'm least enthused about and will probably pass on altogether is Gandalf the White, Galadriel and the Morgul Lord.

If I had to pic one look for Gandalf it would have been Gandalf the White, but I never even considered it because the portrait was poop.

For me the definitive GTW is the SSW GTW on Shadowfax steed piece, which I got for an amazing price last year. It's really the only GTW representation I need.

Yeah, somewhere along the line Sideshow made a great decision and decided to hire the right people for the job. I just wish this was realized earlier.

Hmm, i'd say the GTW bust is better. Certainly likeness-wise.

The Gandalf the White SSW bust was a great likeness, and something about the portrait in the PF line is just off....The detail in the clothing is great, but I was glad to get him for about $125 from a retailer that was selling an open display item. Gandalf the Grey Premium Format is just great though, and I am a little bummed I chose to go the non-exclusive route, having seen all the amazing pictures here!

When i get him (and i will! The grandparents usually give me some money for xmas so i'll probably put that towards the GTG PF) i'm gonna go for the regular. I prefer him with the hat on and if i don't go for the exclusive it'll be cheaper and i'll be able to find it easier in the UK!

The big advantage to the exclusive is that you can get over head light on the face:

With the hat brim this is impossible, and the eyes will never look as good.


I really prefer the hatless portrait.

Whichever one you get FrodoEyes, you won't regret it. He is one fantastic piece. I have the exc and it is nice to change out the heads from time to time, but the reg is well worth having.

It will be one of the best Xmas gifts ever!

Although the hat is iconic, the statue really just looks better with the hat off . Hat hides the face too much and like another poster said, overhead light really makes the hatless version "shine", quite literally.
