I dont get this whole suggestions argument and want to say my peace before I move on. I think it's insulting to Rainman myself to say that he's making work he's not inspired by and is being controlled by what others tell him. There have been 100s of suggestions that haven't and more than likely will never be made by Rainman. I think it's a bit presumptuous to speak for the artist on whether or not he likes the characters he's making, and if I was a betting man I'd say he's a fan of everything he's done or else he wouldn't do it. I know for a fact he likes Daniel Plainview so that's why I keep posting my personal suggestion, in jest, because I'd love to see it happen. If he makes it I can guarantee it won't be because one guy has been clamoring for it. It'll be because he likes it and wants to to.
let me reiterate again... i'm not suggesting rainman isn't a fan of the projects he undertakes. nor am i suggesting (as you seem to think i am) that rainman is being manipulated by a handful of evil 1/6 custom-loving puppeteers into becoming a one man korean sweatshop for figures. some of you rainman fans need to calm down - i'm not insulting your wives or mothers here. in fact, i'm not insulting anyone. unwind yo knickers.
what i am saying (and ONCE AGAIN this is a personal point of view based on art projects i've undertaken myself) that there is a difference between the love of a character and the PROCESS of finding something yourself you want to work on. maybe rainman as an artist doesn't work like that which is absolutely, completely, utterly fine, especially if as KBA says, he needs to think about this as a business also.
rainman is a superb talent, a nice guy, and someone who loves to please his fans, and it's extremely kind of him to take on board our wants. it is JUST my curiosity that makes me WONDER what kind of things he'd be making, innovating, moving on to without our input. that's AAALL i'm trying (obviously badly) to say.
here's an extreme example: one of the most impressive things i've seen in the custom forums recently is a 1/6 space marine by crimsonbob, dorgmal snow and elvis1976. do i want one of these myself? not really. do i absolutely love following the project? yes, because these 3 guys tried something completely new just because they'd never seen anything like that done before. there was no great desire by other members for them and i'm sure there were other easier characters they love they could have produced, that there's a demand for. but the results speak for themselves - it's something unique and literally amazing.
anyway, i'll shut my yap now. i can't seem to make it understood that i'm not trying to offend rainman, or his most loyal subjects.
