Athlete does not equal skill. :

I'm pretty sure Joel Anthony is a better athlete than many NBA players. But he's not a better player.

Bo was impressive but in the big picture is was so short.

Yeah when you equate durability & endurance might just might have a slight edge, but I personally don't see MJ being a better overall athlete than Bo.

Is your choice MJ for greatest athlete of all time? I think the winner from this bracket is going to win the overall award.

If it's greatest athlete of all time, in respect to pure athleticism, it's gotta be Bo. Small sample size or not, Bo could do it all...

I just have this feeling that ESPN won't let Bo beat out MJ. Even though like you said. As far as pure athlete. Bo was far superior than MJ hands down.

Yeah it's well known that ESPN plays favorites so it's no surprise there. They are after all Entertainment Sports Network, notice the "Entertainment" comes first. It's not exactly a scientific poll. They're gonna pick whichever favorite that garners the best ratings...

Bo was crazy good. I wish he would have been able to play longer in both sports and really see what he could do. MJ is the best BBall player ever and one of the greatest athletes ever. I'd probably vote MJ out of bias but damn Bo was amazing. He would have been fun to watch here in KC.

Could MJ high jump a 7ft?

Could MJ run a 4.1 40 yard dash?

Was MJ ever an All Star in two major professional sports?

Bo is a true all around athlete.

This morning looks like Bo Jackson 51% beat out MJ 49% in the SportsCenter facebook 2.5 million voting on best pure athlete. I'm happy to see that the public knows what a pure athlete is.
