Now . . .how many Star Wars collectors out there are women? And how many of them out there even want a Slave Leia? If you think about it, this whole statue only appeals to one type of collector. Let's just say this statue's likeness and "attributes" is going to be hard to beat. It's the same reason why the Obi-Wan in Clone Trooper attire is a runaway hit. Nuff said. I can tell you that if you wait any longer, you'll be sorry you didn't order this one, for whatever reason you may have.

I don't believe Carrie has much say in the matter, she signed away her likeness rights 30 years ago and constantly reminds everybody about it... "George owns my face, etc."

She could, of course, give GL hell and he could make changes for her...
I was only repeating the story that I read. How true it is is anybody's guess. I'm still going to enjoy my statue (and not only because I'm a male collector ;)).

I'm sorry. "Wimped out"? By all accounts, Carrie Fisher, whose likeness is portrayed in the statue, felt that it didn't represent her or the character well, and asked that it be changed. So now honoring the request of the subject of a statue (without whom there would be no statue to make, and no money for GG to make from it) is wimping out?

Simple. 99% of the people who saw the statue the way it was at SDCC were blown away by it, including many who will make it their first ever GG purchase of any kind. If LFL was happy with it (which one can assume they were since they pre-approved it for display at SDCC) then there is absolutely no reason for GG to cave in to any comments from Carrie Fisher. Because SW is quite different from almost all other licenses in that absolutely no actor likeness approval is required... they need only the blessing of Lucasfilm.

So, while it's fine to "honor" and respect the actors to some extent, GG is not at all obligated to change a thing just because Carrie Fisher possibly saw red. They could just as easily tell her to go pound sand, especially since just about everyone else loved the statue the way it was.

Of course, there is always the possibility that Fisher was so preturbed that she got on the horn with LFL and applied pressure that way to force changes to the product, but I find that scenario to be beyond ridiculous. I feel, if anything, the reports that she simply made some comments after seeing it at the show is more likely. And the notion that GG would change the piece based on that alone would be "wimping out" in my eyes.

I really dont think they would have been able to change the state to much anyway. I think that come April everyone will be happy that they got a hold of one of these. Depending on the edition size I could easily see this becoming the item to have in the GG line. I would suggest getting an order in now and not waiting because you never know what they are going to limit these to.

Gonna be a big edition size on this one, even at $180.

They made 7500 Vader statues at $200, and that was earlier in the line--it's more popular now. Boba Fett was $185 and they made 6500 of him, even with a controversial (and largely unpopular) pose. I think that we are looking at an edition size at least as large as these, possibly higher because this piece has more positive pre-release buzz than any GG statue yet. So don't get your order in anticipating a low edition size. Chewie, C-3PO and Darth Maul have all been given runs of 3000 pieces, but there's no way that we should expect that with Slave Leia. Even the Royal Guard is up to 3500 pieces, so even the background characters are now being given larger runs than before. There will be lots of Leias to go around.

Based on the pics I don't see anything that has been changed. I really didn't look to much at the statue during SDCC to be honest. I do remember the ****ies being the size of freaking watermelons though.

Well, I don't have this on order so I'm not one of the folks persuaded by the sexiness of the piece. :lol

Glad I could help ya Fritz. :rotfl :rotfl

I just can't see Fisher really giving a crap about the sexiness of the statue. But I could definitely understand LFL having a problem with it. Gentle Giant doesn't have to change anything if it's Fisher having the problem, but it would definitely be changed at the request of LFL.
And Gentle Giant may still be in the process of updating the statue, the front could be done for the preorder but they have yet to get around to fixing the back side.

If there's anything that should be fixed on this statue it's those hands of hers, the fingers look undersized in just about every picture I've seen.

Yeah, I agree, the fingers look like a toddlers. I even noticed it at SDCC. Most of you guys probably never even saw the fingers, lol. I have this on preorder and it will probably be the first SW statue I get that my husband won't think is geeky. If he stares at it too much I am gonna sell it!!!!!
