People keep saying this…..but this is exactly what happened to the original writing team and stars of the original film.

The didnt like each other at all for al long time. Thats the reason you never got a true GB3 . Rietman was in a dispute with Murray for a long time, even Ackroyd got involved with the arguing.

Which is why that moment is in the film….it was very true to what the actors and writers were going through in real life.

So no only is it possible for it to happen, it DID happen to those very people.
Yes I took their whole breakup and coming back together at the end as a breaking the fourth wall wink to the audience. I don't remember the exact dialogue but didn't Venkman even say something like "yeah we had some issues but we worked them out" or something to that effect?

I think Sigourney Weaver is like coffee, beer, and wine. As a kid, I just didn't see the appeal. I watched Ghostbusters a thousand times and I never thought she was that pretty so I didn't understand why Venkman was so ga-ga over her.

As an adult, now I get it. She's one fine looking woman. And yeah, she's held up remarkably. She was on that little infotainment promo thing for Ghostbusters and Aliens called "The Movies That Made Us" and she looks so good for her age. If she had work done, it was done well. If not, she aged incredibly well. Same with Lynda Carter. Either amazing genetics or one hell of a face guy in Beverly Hills.

You guys believe that Julia Roberts was up for the Dana Barrett role as an unknown back in 1984? She would have been waaay too young. I thought that was some BS urban legend but apparently it's true. Really good thing she didn't get it. I can't imagine anyone else as Dana.

Personally I had programmed myself in my childhood not to find Sigourney attractive in that way. She reminded me of my mum and that's kind of how I've always seen her - as Cameron made her in Aliens - a kickass mother-figure.

I'm just glad to see that she's obviously kept herself well and time has not worn her down beyond all recognition.

The ending unashamedly broke the fourth wall with the "for Harold" caption.

The whole movie was such a different tone to the original comedies that it felt about as distant from them as the 2016 Ghostbusters.

GA is more of a meta movie. A love/hate letter about the Ghostbusters films and actors, rather than a Ghostbusters film itself.

Like a-dev said it makes that botched Blomkamp ALIENS sequel that could have come out *five years ago* even more painful seeing how good she still looks *today.*

She looks better than Biehn did in Mando, lol.
God poor Mike…..Heartthrob to hobo….

I finally got to see this as it only came out on 2/1 here, and I wasn't disappointed.

Well now that it's out properly, I actually watched it from start to finish.

Ooooof. What a mess.

The first half is completely devoid of any humor, and is just a hybrid Goonies/Stranger Things story about nerdy kids. Not only is it NOT funny, it's actually depressing.

Then at the halfway mark it goes full on Ghostbusters: The Force Awakens by recreating the original movie, beat for beat, but with dumb weener kids instead of the Ghostbusters. They even get thrown in jail. Still no laughs.

So then the climax arrives and it's exactly the same as the first one. I mean, EXACTLY. Just when all hope is lost, the three surviving Ghostbusters arrive, in their 70s, and.......start making jokes?? Suddenly it's a comedy now??

Then at the very last minute Ghost Dad shows up and everyone cries, and I have to agree with Red Letter Media....it was just gross. Such disgusting emotional manipulation. Less would have gone a lot further than what they put on screen.

I thought the main girl actor did a decent job; the other three kids kinda sucked. (Including Stranger Things kid.) The drunk mom was just depressing and Paul Rudd was essentially wasted in the Louis Tully role. Dude is over 50 and he still looks around 30. We're supposed to believe he's just hanging around this shithole town in Oklahoma and can't get a date?

The only good part about the movie is seeing the old actors again, and it would have been better just seeing them in some kind of sketch or something if that's all they wanted to do. Them showing up out of nowhere was absolutely ridiculous, but it was already a pointless remake of the first movie.

Honestly left me feeling about as disgusting as I felt leaving the theater after Force Awakens. Yuck.

Watched it last night this movie relied 100% on nostalgia for its entertainment value.

Without it there wouldn't be anything to the movie at all.

Good review. I don't have to see it. It's more or less what I expected from watching the trailer. At least the Ecto 1 looks cool in action. That's the only innovative thing in the GB movie franchise.

I have not seen this but I'm going to go with Otomofan's review and stay away from this.

If the best bit is the aging actors doing their same shtick, then I'd just as well re-watch the original.

Y'all know how I hate the "lets-do-it-again" nostalgia movies when old actors try to recreate their famous youthful characters for a healthy paycheck.

I found the entire movie pretty inoffensive but it's sooo forgettable.

I'm glad I watched it at the cinema and I did find some enjoyment in it. However I can't say I have any desire to watch it again.

I feel bad for the "token black" girl cause it was one of the most blatant cases of token-ism I've seen in a long time.

Her character was completely superfluous in every way. She barely had any scenes, she barely had any dialogue, and I don't think they even said her name until halfway through the movie.

If they did poor Ernie Hudson dirty back in '84, they did much worse to this chick. She seriously probably only had about 20 lines of dialogue or less. Even the little Asian kid had much more screen time and action scenes, and attempts at "comedy."

If "Lucky" wasn't in the movie at all, it wouldn't affect the plot in any way.

I watched it again the other night, and laughed all the way through.

I was pretty intent on following the story when I saw it in the theater, I guess I missed most of the jokes the first time around. I'm a sucker for the dad jokes that Phoebe was telling.

Yeah same here - my partner and I both laughed all the way through this movie, especially Phoebe's bad dad jokes.
The movie isn't a masterpiece, but we really enjoyed it.

Finally watched this tonight. As you all may know I don’t watch previews/trailers I go in fresh watching each scene for the first time……the first time. Enough is enough I’m tired of all these love characters showing up as old folks (Han, Luke, Rocky, Sara Connor, Laurie Strode, Terminator, Venkman etc etc). What a piece of junk this movie was!!
