God I love being right all the time.

Feel bad for you suckers that actually sat through two hours of dumb dweeby kids doing dumb dweeby kid ****.

I skipped right to Billy Murray, watched the REAL Ghostbusters, thought "Hm, that was nice." and called it a day.

Jaws we get it...you didn't like the film. Your 1st post...that was a good enough synopsis of your dis-like.

I take it you won't be ordering the Ecto from this movie...?

Good...one less person in the queue

Billy Murray looked the most awkward of them in the suit - far too old now.

Hopefully they stick to Winston being the main one from the group in future movies.

Wow os thread went from people liking it to eviscerating it very quickly.

I just saw it, crowd level was the same as Dune since I go weekday afternoons

I found it to be very enjoyable and watchable. Nice tribute to GB and Reitman.

A few cringe moments, but overall a fun romp. I have always said the original GB is NOT a straightof comdey, more a of an adventure movie with comedic characters.

Glad to see they brought that idea back.

I really had a good time watching it with my son, who really liked it alot. Lets face it here guys, most of you are crusty old curmudgeon whom basically have turned to saying “well films in my day were much better” Yeah kidding, the whole industry was better..most things were better!!!!

But there is something between the classic experience you knew as a kid and total garbage…..many levels….if your all of nothing , your gonna have a rough time. Find joy where you can.

I didn’t hate it…. I just found it to be about as average as they come.

My ST comparison is because some are giving this film a pass while complaining about those issues the last 8 years… I mean someone said the fan service on GB was nowhere near the level of TROS.. Huh??? Lol

As for the original being an adventure with funny people in it… I agree to an extent. The ghosts and main plot were taken very seriously but the characters were some very funny people which takes the film into the comedy genre.

This film is what you get when BM, DA, HR, and RM where not in the original ghostbusters

Int sting…. I thought the last half hour was nothing but grating and pointless fan service.

way worse then anything in ROS since the end had moments that were shot for shot of the original… Having the original GB come back was kinda cool but cringe at the same time.

Also Seeing the one GB back just reminded me what a dick Bill was for not coming back sooner so we could have a proper sequel

GB was lightning in a bottle. A goofy comedy that had a slight touch of seriousness.

This film in no way is a comedy but not all that serious either.. A strange little film that 75 percent is kinda it’s own thing and then a rip off for the final 25 percent.

and I think it was over 2 hours WTF???

A harmless film overall but perfectly forgettable.
Yeah, my opinion is pretty in line with yours. This one didn't work for me. I actually liked the way it started. My curiosity was piqued about what was going on and where it was going to go, thinking they might do something interesting and different, while still appropriately reverential to what came before. But in the 3rd act any hope of that happening went out the window. Every scene was more of, "what else can we bring back from the original to remind people about it?" From the same enemies, to the same heroes, to the kid being covered in marshmallows, to the guys coming out of the demon dog shells, etc. etc.

Frankly I hated the
ghost Egon
. Went way off the rails with the fan service, which is frankly what Star Wars also did, so I agree with you guys about that.

Having said that, I thought there were a couple of bright spots. The girl was fantastic in that role. Charming and believable. I thought Paul Rudd was also quite good and funny. The scene where they chased the metal muncher down the road was really fun, also, even though it didn't make a lot of sense for them to be so interested in hunting him down to start with.

They didn’t just split up the GB, they made them dislike one of the key members… which really makes no sense for Ray to dislike egon… I mean why not believe him??? plus as smart as Egon is…. He seemed to forget how a phone works. Which ruins his character.

Of course, nearly every film has logical inconsistencies or other issues that can be picked apart. But I was also taken out of the movie when the girl called Ray. It made no sense for him to act the way he did. Given how long they worked together, and how much they cared about one another, would Ray, the truest believer of the paranormal of all, really just dismiss all of Egon's concerns and not even drive over to his town to see the temple and know it was real and worth taking seriously? Sloppy writing there that hurt the overall film in my opinion.

The only issues I really had were the number of Proton Packs….

Did anyone do some sort of count on those? What am I saying, its the internet….of course someone made an hour long video complaining about it.

Bah… just posting my thoughts as they came to me.. Last I checked it was allowed :)

Did not occur to me how much this followed the ST formula until I thought about it after a while.

I didn’t even hate it or dislike it.

Jaws, sorry for hackin' at you and no offense or malice towards you. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. The movie was quite fan-servicey towards the end and a tad forced. This movie was long, but it actually could have used 30 minutes more to develop the rift between Egon and the rest of the crew with some flash backs filling in the gaps. Hey an extended directors cut...you just never know!

Thats OK.

I tend to rant when I am disappointed. Weird thing is I was not expecting much out of this one. I think I was more surprised at the love this was getting and the little jabs at the ST when this followed the ST formula.

Yeah the ST must have done something right to make GB:A follow it so closely.

Though if TROS was more like GB:A then instead of Palpatine returning while surrounded by thousands of acolytes and planet killing Star Destroyers it would have been just him and two guards facing Rey at the Lars Homestead, lol.

It's funny, I never think of that last Star Wars movie until I come to this forum, and it reminds me about how much I disliked it. It is pretty amazing to me that no matter how many hundreds of millions of dollars they throw at something like that, horrible writing can still go unchecked.

Quick Poll:

Like or dislike…..BUT Did you see it with a younger person (as in ages of the kids in the film?) Or just your old crotchety self?

It was pretty much down the middle.

6/10.

Nothing great. A bit dark and depressing at the start, and overly sentimental at the end.

Some of it didn't flow very well, as with disbeliever Phoebe not being phased by the ghostly events. She simply starts playing chess with him!

Lucky also seems to go suddenly from outsider to Ghostbuster.

Then there are a few things that seemed really inappropriate. Such as Grooberson talking to Callie about Phoebe's future. I think she was only supposed to be twelve in the film:

"Who knows? Maybe she'll take up pole dancing."

The only pay off was that Callie's reply was quite droll:

"She's not that co-ordinated."

Then I think there was some Keymaster and Gatekeeper dialogue with the kids too, which is more Stephen King's territory.

All by my lonesome. I have an 11 year old daughter who I considered bringing after I screened it. But as it turns out, I am censoring it for it being a mediocre movie, not one with inappropriate scenes, etc. Doubt I'll ever watch this movie again.
