Jay Pharoah's only good gag is his imitations voices. Not sure how that would play in.

"What we do in the Shadows" was the most fun I've had in a while. It had a nice set-up, great chemistry between the cast, smart writting, and the laughs came from genuine and logical (in-universe) situations, without the need for vulgarity, nudity, memez, and all the traps that recent "comedies" fall prey into. It was just... great.

I laughed my ass off, GF didn't understand the whole point of the movie

It's certainly one of the best films in recent years. It's why I'm excited for Thor: Planet Hu- I mean, "Ragnarok". If anything, the comedy's gonna be good. He could also direct a good Hellblazer flick, I think. Dunno how well he does with horror, but Taika nailed the personality of horror creatures. Hellblazer always had a more "realistic" approach to such themes.

There is like 9 hours of improv from what we do in the shadows

They should release all of it.

What makes it so effective is the natural and underplayed comedy, it's not EL OH EL hilarious in every single attempt, it's just a funny and comfy movie, you even feel like you could hang out with those vampires :lol

On the other hand, Girlbusters is pretty much a modern SNL skit, stupid try hard "comedy".

If I was in the audience in an SNL show I would so loudly groan and make gag reflex noises until they escorted me out.

For me it was that they approached the Vampires as "regular people". It's like when you see a flick, and the evil ghostis an evil spirit which does evil things. Or the demon is an evil demon who does evil demon-y things. Give them some character! Maybe the soul&contract thing has a whole industry behind it, and you've got Demon Account Men and Bankers in hell. Maybe that ghost is a prankster. WWDITS felt like a story out of Hellblazer in a way, with its low-budget look, 3-Dimensional creatures, and comedy that wasn't just the typical stuff.

As for GB, well, it's the reflection of today's Hollywood. Hell, the cop guy from Stranger Things gave a speech about how he's gonna hunt monsters and protect freaks! WTF do these people take? Do they mix weed with coke and LSD and think of themselves as Renaissance Men?

Oh, so that's why Winona Ryder was reacting like that :lol

Didn't you see that? Oh boy, have some gifs:

>Why is a tv actor who starred in an overhyped 80s remake taking center stage?

>How is he gonna help the "poor"?

>Why is hecalling people "freaks"?

>Why is the kid freaking the **** out?

>Why does everyone look baked AF?

The American Left is the only movement that tries to combat extreme nationalism through self-importance, a God Complex and their own sense of Nationalism. And there isn't a more perfect example than Hollywood...

EXTRA: The kid has freaked the **** out (I guess he couldn't handle staying past his bedtime...)

UUUUUUUUUUUuugh.

I just saw stuff in my FB feed about his speech being empowering and inspirational and all that bs, I immediately knew what it was about, didn't even want to see it.

At least we got Winona gifs.

I'm unimpressed. Aykroyd's criticism were about the budget and waiting until reshoots to implement changes -- which means the changes were implemented, albeit late and expensively ... and that crap was the result. The crux of his 'criticism' was Feig spent too much, so didn't make a profit with an otherwise suitable movie. Which is nonsense. That's hardly going to the core of the problem -- which was Feig's commitment to ideology over comedy, script, etc. Feig didn't want to make a Ghostbusters movie. He wanted to make a chick comedy that'd compel the attention of men. The Ghostbusters was just the vehicle. Which was insulting to Ghostbusters fans, men, and chicks who like actual comedy rather than pseudofeminist screeds pretending to be comedy movies.

Still a gutless 'criticism' from Aykroyd. The problem wasn't the cost. It was the product. It would've been very profitable at that cost if it had been a good movie.
