:lol you're comparing the Heath Ledger hate from homophobes to a director who only makes politically driven "comedies"?

You know that every actor in Hollywood also didn't pass on the role of the Joker the way the Coens, the Office creators, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and Ivan Reitman himself passed on directing this?

Never go full retard.

The amount of hate in this thread comes off as misogynistic, in the same way Ledger hate come off as homophobic.

Just offering an opposing viewpoint. The point being. . . maybe just wait for the movie to come out, and judge it on its own merits.

Heath Ledger wasn't a one trick pony. People who weren't homophobes knew that.

Paul Feig is a one trick pony. That is why there is that concern. But that isn't actually what most fans are upset over.

I don't have a problem with them making the whole team female, but don't give it to Feig who's not proven himself, and don't reboot it. Like I said, there already are plenty of female characters in cannon.

There is no reason to do both and still call it Ghostbusters. That is what the fans are saying here loud and clear. Make it, call it Ghost Team or w/e. This is nothing but attaching a poor idea to a big name to make it sound better.

Sony has an official booth at NYCC. The official GB page is rife with "we don't want this comments." I'd much rather make enough noise to scare Dan off the dotted line now than wait until it's too late and no one will touch it for another 25 years.

Oh, and believe me, the resistance was just as loud and angry when the rumors were it was going to the Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill crew. It's not about the females, it's about the pool of people like Melissa McCarthy in particular that Feig draws from.

Paul Feig is a one trick pony.

I disagree.

I know Paul Feig from Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, which I really like. When I hear Paul Feig is doing something, I know it's going to be funny, and it's going to have heart. That's what I associate with him.

That was also before Jonah Hill was nominated for an Oscar, and made 21 Jump Street into a solid re-boot. Just goes to show, people can exceed your expectations.

I think Feig draws from a pool of talented people, that don't usually get the spotlight, or at least creates characters that don't get the spotlight. I like underdog stories, so I tend to like what Paul Feig does. I mean, I associate Feig with Apatow, so when I think of Feig's talent pool, I think of things like Anchorman, Superbad, Pineapple Express, and the aforementioned Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, so when those guys are working on a new Ghostbusters movie, that makes me optimistic, regardless of the gender of the stars.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I find Paul's movie work to be underwhelming and his characters to be quite one dimensional. I agree that Hill is talented but he and that whole crew of Franco, Rogen etc, still has no place near a movie like this. (and I liked This is the End a lot) Nor did his eventual success owe itself to Feig.

He brought all of the opposition on himself though. He shouldn't have said something like all female when their isn't so much as a single word on a piece of paper in regards to a script. He actually passed on the movie initially like every other director. The interview he gave makes it clear he has zero interest in Ghostbusters lore, anything remotely related to it's past and his comments scream of gimmick. He's taking it for the money. That interview is why most fans want nothing to do with this.

Even Dan Aykroyd has to be staggered right now by the response on social media. He's been the only person championing this movie for the past decade and hasn't said so much as boo on twitter or fb or anything since the announcement.

No longer get EW, so I only found out about this a few days ago. But this reboot has a lot to live up to.

Everyone looks great together. It goes without saying that Ramis's absence is pronounced. RIP.

I know Rick Moranis doesn't really act anymore, but he should have been included in the reunion. He more than likely passed on attending, but Ramis' absence isnt the only one that's pronounced.

Re: Ghostbusters reboot with all-female leads possible.

Why does it have to be a female version? I'd rather not see them reboot it in the first place, but the whole "It's Ghostbusters but WITH WOMEN!" is just ridiculous. Get a good script, cast it accordingly, and don't **** on the Ghostbusters franchise just to try to make a few bucks.

Didn't they already do that with Ghostbusters 2? I mean, I love the first but part 2 was, for me, a bit of a stinker.

So Murray can dress up like a GB and do a photo-shoot for a magazine, but he can't do GB3? Also, it looks like Winston took Egon's spot on the magazine cove...poor Winston.

:lol yeah the second one was definitely not near as good. That's what worries me about them trying it again. Some stuff just shouldn't be messed with IMO.

don't forget dressing up in the suit for Zombieland.... I lost all respect for him after that
it is one thing to just want to do small indie movies and wanting to leave those big blockbuster movies behind (his excuse anyway) and another thing to BE in a big blockbuster movie making fun of GB by wearing the suit.

the guy is a moron. I read that GB3, I don't know why he had to be such an ass about it, it sounded like a great movie. maybe not the most original idea ever but I didn't see anything that was too horrible. it sounded better than GB2.
sounds like an egomaniac

That's just Bill being Bill, I guess.

I wouldnt call him a moron just because he didnt go and film a movie you (and other fans) wanted him to be in, it's his life and his career, perhaps he felt the Zombieland script was much funnier than the GB3 script. If anything he is lazy, which he admits, he doesnt feel the desire to do big roles in big movies, he likes the way his career has gone since teaming up with Wes Anderson and just does roles like those.

I like Murray, sure it would be nice to see more of him, but I'll take a good small role of his over a bad starring role.

i know you are right and other members have said the same before

...but he did Garfield... freaking Garfield, i cant believe i live in a world were he does Garfield one and two yet GB3 is not good enough for him...

GARFIELD 2 WTF there is no excuse, that loses anything he says. besides his friends were counting on him to return, fans of GB, it's not just saying to on principle, it's like he did it just to piss off dan aykroyd or something

LOL, hard to argue with that.
