The dangling cigarette crossed my mind a few months ago, and I thought about it just the other day, so I might do that. That is one of my favorite parts.
I know you can’t make everyone happy but I will say my GB sculpts weren’t intended to be “generic” these where “Make ’em hard” (actual line from the movie) going after Gozer looks. Most of the guys I talked before the clay flew said that was the way they where displaying them wands out ready to throw it so that what I went for.
I’ve heard the “boyish/goofy charm” thing for Ray floating around and I can just say he never had that look when he was throwing it. Talking with the guys about ghosts or the fire house, yes he had that boyish enthusiasm, even when he had the trap talking about the real nasty free floating repeating phantasm he had it then. But that look wasn’t the general conscious at the time of sculpting, in fact this did come up and a more determined look was the direction I was hearing at the time.
This post isn’t a slam towards anyone, people want what they want and I wish I could give it to them but like I said I can’t make everyone happy, all I saw was that Howes screwed up and the disappointment that resulted, so I stepped in and did it. I really never had any intention of sculpting the Ghost Busters at all.
Also I have no problem with anyone who wants to compare my work with anyone else’s, (“ I have no ego to bruise”- Mr. Spock) I’ve already sculpted four new heads, a set of armor, modified several sculpts and worked on three very, very BIG mind blowing projects. I don’t have time to get worried about who likes what. If you like it, great if you don’t, that’s ok too.
I will say this is a proponent of why we have so many of the same subjects getting sculpted. Isn’t better to have three or more heads to choose from than just one?
