I recommend you give the book another read. The entire situation was triggered by one Ranger's "ineptness." In the movie you can't really blame Orlando Bloom for falling out of the black hawk since it was dodging an RPG. That wasn't how it happened in real life. Scott was actually quite gracious in that case.

I've read it a few times. Have you? Your statement is still false:
Black Hawk Down followed the actual events pretty closely

Loosely based, yes. Followed closely, not by a long shot.

Yes but he was actually a combination of several real life soldiers. If you ignore the fact that his name is Eversmann he did do a lot of things that actually happened, (and a number of things that didn't, as already mentioned.).

True, but as they created a fictional character in Hoot, perhaps they could have created a fictional Ranger sergeant in charge of that Chalk.

The movie obviously wasn't an hour by hour recreation of the actual events, but I don't know anyone who watched it and thought that the US soldiers (rangers and Delta alike) were portrayed as inept or shy about fighting back.

Still my favorite war film of all time as a matter of fact.

Agreed.

One of my favorites war movies. Up there with Saving Private Ryan.

Um, so yeah, finally saw the two-part Renegades intro. Pleasantly surprised!

And now I also want to watch Tears of the Sun again.

Last night's episode was pretty cool too. The battle in SE's cabin was a bit reminiscent of the Hama comic where Firefly blows it up. The flashback with SE getting his vocal chords slashed with a shuriken was even kind of brutal for a kid's show. Looking forward to the next one.

Storm Shadow looks nearly RoC bad though with his nose and hair peaking out of his mask. I mean when did Storm Shadow get sloppy?

I'm still not really sure what to think of this show. I think the premise is good, but the character designs (and voices) pretty much suck. At least I've discovered ARAH is on Huboom because of this so I get classic Joe action most weeknights now :rock

I thought last episode was just ok, but not horrible. I like how each episode introduces someone else or 2.

Not a bad series so far. I don't like how everybody has a similar face with those wide weird looking noses though.

OK...I am all caught up. 4/4 now. Gotta work a little to get my mind around the little changes in the history. But It's all good so far.
