GI Joe: Renegades (New Animated Series Debuting 11/26/10)

Just got caught up on fancast.com today. So far the show is growing on me. The animation either becomes more acceptable or is getting better as I watch it.

A couple of things stand out for me so far though....

One, absolutely hands down, SE's was my FAVORITE Joe (nothing new I know) in any Joe series. I'm actually finding in this one though that he's just okay. Not saying he's a bad character, still trying to put my finger on it, but he's just okay. Overall, besides Scarlett, I don't really care for any of the characters. They're kind of all just okay but I'm enjoying the series so far.

Two, the SS costume is one of the worst I've EVER seen for the character or in a cartoon period. The character is fine, the costume is horrendous. I hope that now after the last episode

I tried to get caught up on Transformer's Prime on Fancast today and the videos weren't working. Anyone else had any issues with that series on that site?

this show is really starting to pour out the new characters. Last episode had Scrap Iron and Destro, and I suppose Steeler. Next episode will have Zartan and the Nocks.

I'm really not sure what it is. I'm not a purist when it comes to characters in the Joe-verse either. There is just something about him...I like him in the show, just not like I typically would.

I think they need to back off SE a little. They are using him too much to get them out of otherwise impossible situations. I think you're not liking him because of overexposure.

That's a VERY good point. Maybe with the lack of the other Joe's we're used to being in the cartoons and the over use of SE's it's getting to me.

Again, I'll see where they take it but Mindbender and SS's costume so far are probably my biggest complaints. I can live with those for now.

I really liked the new take on Zartan, how he mimics their voices and steals pieces of them. Some of the new Nocks designs were good, but I didn't like Buzzer. Roadpig looked good.

But on the positive side for purists...they are staying true to Duke's inability to avoid becoming a Cobra captive.

Oh, no. Zartan and the Dreadnocks were absolutely horrible! I mean Zartan didn't even look like Zartan. Even the RoC Zartan looked more like Zartan than this piece of crap. I mean he looked like he should have had a show on the Discovery or History Channel or something. They reduced the nocks to just a lame biker gang.

And Destro the week earlier was horrible as well, although being voiced by the Kurgan was cool. But this series has just been an abomination. RoC looks like a masterpiece compaired to this series, and that is saying something.

So you are asking yourself why is Buttmuch still watching this then? Well, its kinda like a train wreck. Its so horrible and aweful, but you just can't turn away because you want to see just how bad things are. At least Huboom gives me ARAH 4 or 5 nights a week now

I have missed the last few episodes but when I saw this episode had Zartan I made sure to set the DVR but I didn't even make it through the episode before deleting off of my DVR.

Haven't watched the show since that episode where SS shows up at SE's cabin. I saw the beginning of the Zartan episode but wasn't too impressed.

I have put aside everything I knew and liked about the original GI Joe and it has allowed me to enjoy the new series for what it is.

I think all of these characters we are being introduced to now will somehow resurface in their iconic incarnations. Take Major Bludd, for instance. The last time we saw him, he was clutching his eye so we know next time around, he'll have his eye patch. If you notice during the episode with Zartan, his helmet kind of eluded to the hood. I think it's a fun show. I don't feel insulted by it. Hell, GI Joe has had more origin stories than I can remember and this one for damn sure isn't the worst.
