I might have given it a slightly more aggressive feel, but I wouldn't have pushed it too far in that direction, and I'm pleased with it as is.

Totally, not too far is the key but its all moot at this point anyway. I don't think this will keep anyone from passing.

And if woodsy were here he would repost dozens of images of Gimli in battle looking composed.

Interesting--the wait list option is gone for EX Gimli, and he is now fully sold out. Looks like the NRD cut down on last minute cancellations. Sorry for those who missed out on the exclusive!

When would the wait list submissions be cancelled? Mine is still showing on the orders page.

I'm not sure when they would start cancelling previous requests--right now they have just stopped taking new requests. If your submission is still there in your account, you have hope and you shouldn't give up!

He's only just started shipping, but they obviously have a pretty good idea at this point how many will be left over, and they know they can't accommodate any more on the wait list.

Thanks for the encouragement! I really hope I can get this as my first in this line, he is my 2nd favorite of those shown behind Boromir and it would be great to have him!

That's very good news. Total sell outs is a very good thing. If that's what the NRD did then it did its job.

Years ago, I got the X-Men vs. Sentinel EX diorama off the wait list, after they sent me an e-mail telling me that no more were available and offering to sell me a regular instead. I replied and asked them to leave my wait list request active anyway, and what do you know--it eventually converted. Same thing happened with the Iron Man comiquette EX and Han Solo PF EX.

Don't give up until they forcefully pry the wait list request out of your account via cancellation.

But it's a good sign for the state of the line when they've only been shipping for two business days and you can't even get on the wait list anymore. It's good that sales are strong and customers are apparently being faithful to their preorders and not cancelling in large numbers and leaving Sideshow with unsold stock. Arwen is likely going to be an exception, but if people want Boromir or Legolas, they should get on the wait list ASAP. The NRD policy is cutting down on speculative preorders and more of the preorders are from customers who mean business. Others who have paid the NRD might be more tempted to follow through with the order and immediately put it on eBay so they don't lose their deposit and will gain the reward points. There is no guarantee that popular items will eventually wind up available on the second chance list.

Yeah, I have my Boromir converted to an order and I had a converted Legolas I (stupidly) had to cancel.:slap Right now I hope I can get lucky enough to have him convert again and get a Gimli, too

The pics are great! SS truly hit a homerun with this design.

Now, I hope SS hurries up and gets these shipped out. Maybe then they'll announce the PF.

I honor of Woodsy, I dug these out from earlier in this thread.

I went through a ton of screencaps looking to find some where Gimli [in the heat of battle] exhibited much in the way of emotion and this was pretty well all I could find. The fact is there are much more screencaps available portraying Gimli as virtually expressionless than there are screencaps where he shows any form of emotion, so I think the sculpt as is, is a more accurate portrayal of Gimli.

and there is more...

Here are some of the numerous screencaps showing Gimli in the heat of battle. He is either swinging, or in the process of swinging his axe in most of these, and clearly he is not shouting, screaming, or showing much in the way of any emotion whatsoever.

Where are you woodsy?...we miss you man! :monkey2

TODAY IT'S THE DAY ! :panic:

More pics later! :)

Thanks for the pics of the display box, Masterside. I'm always a sucker for the art design on the display boxes.

I guess this is the new style / design motif for the maquette line, with LOTR logo and character name on a solid background. Aragorn had a pic of the piece on all four sides of the box, but Legolas and Gimli have the style above. I guess we'll find out today if Arwen's box is the same.

Also, the box for teh 1/6 Gimli maquette is bigger than the box for the 1/4 Terminator PF?

damn, this is one cool statue...
the detail and the pose, and since i'm gimli fans, i think i'll getting this...
but the expression....too plain >.<
