Is there a chance that HaoYuToys/HHModel (whatever their name is) will redo their Maximus figure? Don't think anybody cares about the second movie's protagonist but I think Maximus would still sell. They could do a 2.0 on a seamless body like they did with Achilles. Although they seem to be slowing down recently

In my mind, this movie is a prequel to Training Day.

I eventually saw this for the first and probably only time.

With its deviation from history I think the original worked better as a standalone where you can pretend everything worked out for the better after Maximus's death and Marcus Aurelius' dream that was Rome was indeed realised. Now if you watch Gladiator II it pulls a Star Wars Sequel Trilogy on all your hopes and dreams.

Spoiled myself early on, and didn't care. Whether I ever even bother to watch the whole thing is doubtful. Shame of it, Scott is one of my favorite directors but this just sounds like limp re-hash.

From what I saw, it's not only a limp re-hash, it's positively bad. I thought Scott was back on form after watching The Last Duel (and to some extent House of Gucci), but then came Napoleon, and now this... very sad and very disappointing.
