The Indy and Terminator PFs are amazing from sideshow. But I got to admit I've never see them do anything else up to Hot Toys level. I think the 12 inch Ben, PF Indy, Roger Moore from Bond, PF terminator are some of the best liknesses Ive ever seen sculpt wise but they just don't have the same magic that HT human sculpts have in terms of realism.

And oh yeah, this bust is HORRIBLE.

I think they have the sculpts, they just don't have the painters.

At least some of the angles are more flattering; I think the problem here is more the paint than the sculpt. I do LOVE the tailoring and the base - very classy.

yeah i think its the paint as well.
Id like to see unpainted sculpt pics.
... maybe SS's trying to be more realistic as to what the factory is capable of producing?....

I wonder how opinions would change if the edition size came in at 50 or even less...

Do 1:1 Busts have real Fabric on them? This bust looks like it has the Fabric of the Shirt but I can't tell from the Pictures

I know that none of the Marvel 1:1s do. But I can't say for sure about this one.

O.k. so thats the icing on the slap in the face cake. Although I don't see much wrong with the sculpt other than the lousy paint apps this price is just wrong.

I've gotta say, I'm surprised to see everybody piling on here. I have no interest in buying this, but it certainly doesn't look like the disaster that people are making it out to be. The likeness is there, as opposed to the Bruce Lee PF, for example. A lot of the problem is simply that Sideshow can't photograph their own pieces properly. He shouldn't be lit with floodlights like that. It makes him look all glossy and strange. I really think this would look different in person. The Godfather PF -- now that was a bad likeness IMHO.

And why the surprise at the price? $499 is the lowest price you're likely to see for a 1:1 bust from Sideshow. The cheapest ever were $399, and that was quite a while ago, before the recent price increases.

The paint apps are very inconsistent, and I guess some of them have a roughness or almost rippling unevenness to the surface of the sculpt in places. That's not to say that they're all bad, but a lot of people are unhappy.

i think the sentiment is how can ss screw up a giant 1/1 bust when hot toys could nail it and then some when it's only 2 inches big. the paint apps look bad

The Hot Toys piece does blow it away, no question about that. You could actually say the same about the Hot Toys Hellboy and the Sideshow Hellboy bust. Hot Toys is unstoppable at the moment.

Just check out the 1:1 IM bust thread...tons of pictures to explain the problems. SS is replacing mine, but I have a very good feeling the 2nd one is going to come in the same condition. SS really needs to get new painters...ASAP!
