WOW, the GMK looked enormous and this looks a foot taller, this is easily the biggest mass market Godzilla ever.

I don't claim that this model is perfect, and I don't own it (wish I did), but this 30cm model by Image is much more accurate than the X-Plus. I do have the 20cm Image version and it's still better.View attachment 102517View attachment 102518View attachment 102519View attachment 102520

I just realized I had seen this somewhere before. This was a model offered by Kaibutsuya at last year's Wonderfestival in Japan. Looks like X-Plus just bought someone else's piece. I don't have a problem with that, as some of their early pieces came from Mr. Niwa's Monster Maker 28 collection, Anguirus, Gorosaurus, and Godzilla 68. However, MM28 is way better than Kaibutsuya. I don't think artistic liberties are at work with this. Kaibutsuya has never been great on accuracy.View attachment 102523
Aren't the X-Plus Gigantic Series based on pre-existing sculpts?
For example, GMK is.

I believe '95 is too, and the sculpts their using are stylized ones.
Would love to see them do the '84 from Kaibutsuya.

I had their 84 and had to get rid of it.
That's my grail, even though it's not spot on to the '84 suit, it's one of the most evil depictions of it can close enough that I love it.
I'm not the greatest fan of the stylized approach to the gigantic series. But the 95 reminds me of my old Bandai Premium which is why I want it! Still very cool, but if I had to choose, I would prefer either a 25cm or 30cm figure with dead on accuracy than some extra large piece with artistic freedom. Again, just IMHO.
I don't know how it works, but I think X-Plus has used existing sculpts for other pieces besides the Gigantic series. I feel like you can almost tell, some X-Plus pieces are almost perfect to the suit, while others have a sort of X-Plus style and are off and it's the off ones that seem original where the spot on ones seem like they must be borrowed.
I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. This does remind one of the Super Premium figure and that should be a problem. Even though X-Plus labels these as Garage Toys, they are not to be considered toys. They are garage kits that are pre-assembled and painted. Accuracy should be paramount. Leave stylized to toy lines. I understand that X-Plus has an easy extension to their offerings by using some existing sculpts, but find something that lives up to their standards. Although it's not a 95, this 89 by Gow Row might have been a nicer choice. It's the same size as the Kaibutsuya 95. Don't know what kind of agreement X-Plus has with Kaibutsuya, but I'm not going to be happy if they keep going this route. View attachment 102550

Hell yeah!
