A guy that works for Diamond and sort of runs the show with getting X-Plus figures for Diamond posted about it. Not sure about release dates, but he said they should be available for pre-order about three weeks from now.

He said it should be about $170, but retailers like Entertainment Earth and Anime Island offer discounts usually.

So, one question I have for you X-Plus guys that I have yet to find an answer for is whether or not there are significant differences between the original X-Plus releases and the Diamond re-issues? As far as the crispness of the sculpt, the paint job... Has anyone been able to compare the releases?

Whoops! Had a slow night yesterday. Had to shout it from the mountains when I found out myself. :lol

There have been some differences in the paint jobs. G54's eyes appear cloudier than the white eyes of the original (which kind of bums me out), Mechagodzilla's silver is darker, the Gargantuas are not as well-done as the original Wonder Fest figures, and the GMK has lipstick lips (the dark red of his gums is painted all over his lower lip).

X-Plus has been notified about these issues, so I guess we'll see with this month's wave (G64, Varan, and Minya) if there have been any improvements. Another thing is Diamond and X-Plus are doing a small reproduction run of the G54 due to popular demand. I'm curious if they fix the eye issue.

They are releasing the 54 once again so call your local comic shop. From what I understand the preorder from Diamond is up till April 20th.
