Love that Gigan!

Recently scored a great deal for this on eBay. I feel pretty content with my Godzilla collection, not much that I feel is missing, though I'm of course open to new stuff, but one thing I've really wanted is a collectible of the '54 maquette. Between my overall love for Godzilla, and my love for the '54 movie, I've wanted to have a collectible of the design that started it all. This is where it all evolved from. There's only 2000 of these from X-Plus, even though it will ruin the resale value of the piece, I dont' plan to sell it, so I'm going to repaint it so it looks even more like the maquette and not just a vinyl toy.

He's just under 10" tall.

I thought they both looked awesome, and my Godzilla nostalgia kicked in... until that I saw that they were only 6 inch high figures.
I have to pass on $70 for a 6 inch figure.

They are pricey, so on my budget, i'm getting just this Godzilla and then holding out for only favorites in the future.

That said, I don't feel the price is crazy, I just can't afford everything.

These are Yuji Sakai sculpts, which to me are the best work a G fan could ever ask for, they have a wide range of articulation which is quite well hidden for the most part, and even the paint looks pretty good for mqss production.

I too plan on picking and choosing with these. I'm in for Godzilla and Mechagodzilla for sure. I can see myself trying hard not to buy ones I'm lukewarm on though.

I'm only getting this one cuz of a concern it could end up being the only one. I want a super articulated G, but if a suit i like better shows before this ships i'll cancel.

Well, it's not just a matter of a 6" figure being half the price of a 12", you'd have to have NECA 12" figures cost $140 for fair comparison, but reality is, NECA costs about half these Godzillas. Like I mentioned, I think these figures have a lot going for them where the price doesn't feel too bad to me, but, were I to look at it rationally, a 6 inch figure, just because it's super articulated, should not cost half the price of a figure that has highly detailed paint, accessories, tailored costuming, etc. A $150 Hot Toys figure gives more for your cash.

However, the reality is, Godzilla items are pricey. Look at X-Plus, a 10" vinyl figure with a decent paint job costs as much as an average Hot Toys 12" figure. A 12" vinyl figure from them costs even more than a Hot Toys 1/6 with pretty much the same quality as the 10" A Hot Toys figure has a far clearer showing of where your money went, but, Godzilla fans really appreciate and crave products of the big guy, especially great sculpts and nice paint work, so we pay it anyway.

That said, as much as I rationally see more value for my money in my HT figure collection, I see more sentimental value in my Godzillas for my money than the HT figures.

Hey all, this is my first post on this board, but I tuned in because of a posting made by someone on page 30 of this particular Godzilla post about the unreleased Animated Godzilla prototypes made by TRENDMASTERS (TM for short), of the canceled Godzilla the Series toy line which was due to hit shelves in the Fall of 1999. You can read all about it, and see the photos I supplied of the entire line up here:

Hey all, I'm new here, and this is my FIRST post. I signed up specifically because I came across a photo that included a couple of prototypes made by TRENDMASTERS (TM for short), of the canceled Animated Godzilla the Series (G:tS for short) toy line.

I wanted to direct you fans of this show to the article I helped put together with Sci-Fi Japan here, if you have never seen it before:

https://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2011/01/07/godzilla-the-series-the-lost-trendmasters-toy-line/

I think the article came out pretty good, and my contribution was supplying all the photos, and adding a lot of commentary, to this line that many were very much looking forward to being released.... Sadly, that never happened, but at least these photos give a pretty good idea of what was planned. I honestly believe a lot of the TM haters would have come to enjoy these figures, since they were very true to their TV likeness.

I can't figure how to post a link. If you visit youtube and type
"1968 Godzilla Destroy All Monsters 1/6 Figure" By ARTOFTOYS. Kool video and love this song.
Sorry if it's been posted already. They seem to have some nice Japanise stuff on there web site.
