Not sure about the '54, it's so similar to the Banpresto and it's only about an inch taller, if that. The X-Plus scultp looks great, just feels like lots of money for a duplicate piece.

I got the 2011 GMK oranmanet from American Greetings last week.

S.H. Monsterarts should be shipping next month.

I was at Meijer last week and saw the new Godzilla oranmanet. It's nice but i'm not sure if i'll be buying it yet. I may sell last years Godzilla oranmanet.

While not my favorite Godzilla, I do feel the sculpt and paint on this year's ornament is the best work they've ever done. the very first ornament they did is still the best ornament though, the spike flow, the flame effect, they made a really cool ornament with that one.

Godzilla is in dire need of the Sideshow treatment, if only Toho would allow it. Would the new movie help change things at all? At least Sideshow has tried. https://www.sideshowtoy.com/?p=10221

The '54 looks great, but the Banpresto is a great bang for the buck, considering its sculptor and everything. I've gotta keep an eye on ebay.

Is it me or does the GMK ornament look more accurate than the 30cm X-Plus? Something about the X-Plus looks off around the face.

looking at it more, the '54 is a nice sculpt, but I feel it's the least faithful to the suit of all the X-Plus G's.

A 15 year search has finally ended. Somebody put this up on eBay and I hit it fast with no questions asked.

PS: its for sale :) i cant post in the for sale thread and im not sure why. Asking price is $500 open to offers. Its also going on ebay shortly.

Pretty neat statue, but looks even less Godzilla to me than the Tristar, the head has a lot of the JP T-Rex in it.

yea ur right, its not screen accurate, it was just an artist interpretation of Godzilla. I honestly like this head better than the one in the movie.

Finally got this delivered today. OMG is it gorgeous! And a lot bigger than I remembered. Just amazing to know it's straight out of the movie molds. I'll toss up some pics of parts soon.

Fason,

That's an awesome sculpt!
Although it doesn't look like any of the movie Godzillas, it's a great interpretation. Probably as close to what the Big G would look like if he were real. :)

Do you live in S. Cali? :wink1:

So I'm starting to get into the X-Plus line...which is a bit hard since they release so much stuff and it's all so expensive.

From my research it seems they basically have 2 lines - the "Toho 30cm Series" and the "Large Monsters Series". And from what I gather, 30cm Series is basically all 12" figures while the Large Monsters Series is more like 10"? Is there any other differences in these lines?

And how do the Large Monsters Series and 30cm Series fit with each other - do they still scale together relatively well on display? I'm wondering if I should try to get everything X-Plus I like (which is most of the stuff) or only stick to the 30cm line in order to save my budget a bit.

Thanks.

The 10" ones are noticeably smaller and don't fit in right with the 12" figures. If I had to choose one line, it'd be the 30 cm scale, but the older releases can be very expensive.

I personally am sticking to the 30 cm scale for the most part, but I have '89 Godzilla and pre-ordered Biollante to go with him.

Unfortunately, right now, most of what's in the 12" line is not in the 10" line, though there are a couple suits that have been done in both scales now.

For me, it hasn't been about the size, but the particular suit. I would have liked the '84 in 12" scale but they made it in 10" so far.

True. It's weird that they would make 2 separate lines that are so similar. I wish they'd just stick to one size. I like the 30cm size better, but there's some things in the 10" line that are better. For example, I think the Baragon 10" looks way better and more accurate than the 12" one.

And on a side note, does anyone know what happened to X-Plus and Gamera? Did they lose the license some time ago and just never bothered to get it back?
