I suppose you're right. Personally speaking, I pre-ordered two of these with the full knowledge an International edition was coming so I figure if I should be upset with anyone, it's with myself. As far as I'm concerned, this is still the finest Gollum statue representation ever produced, and the addition of an International edition isn't going to change that fact.

Could be, I still can't find the info on the SS website about this. Maybe its all a cruel photoshop hoax Have I said lately how hard to navigate I find their website (insert broken record icon here)

Same here, I had no doubt that Sc would cash in and make more than 500 of these, especially since he sold out so quickly. If he was still available for order, I'm sure we wouldn't see more. It looks like they're keeping options open, make a low number, see if it sells, if it does, make more and change the picture on the bottom to make it international. Is this the 3rd or 4th piece now that has had this, we had the Patient 0 pf, the mouser, gollum, am I missing one?

The thing is, SS announced the existance of an International version the same day Gollum went up for pre-order....a good 4 days before the domestic edition sold out so I'm not even sure we can say they did this because of the sales of the domestic edition.....Honestly, I've yet to figure out what the purpose of an International edition is for any statue, though in the case of PZ I suspect SS oversold the reg. edition. But that said it wasn't like collectors didn't know this was coming........

I thought there might have been a Marvel statue out there with an International edition as well.....but don't hold me to that.

Sideshow had an international version of the Thing from its Marvel PF line.

What are people upset about? That the international one will be different or that the edition size will go up?

This is just my hunch, that the international edition will be less than 500, possilbe 250-300. That would bring it up around what the exclusive PFs are.

Unsure who is upset, except the guy on ebay that paid 600 dollars for a gollum PF, and I guess the guy who canceled his pre-order and lost his 30 bucks prior to seeing said eBay auction (the latter would be me)

Could someone explain the physical difference between the Sideshow Direct and International Versions? They are the same statue, the same alternate torso and swap out name plates, and the same alternate base, correct? The numbering or graphic on the bottom of the base may be different to reflect the different markets, but they are really the same statue right?

I don't see the need for any fuss, as Sideshow was really clear that the International Version would be offered, but a little more clarity as to what is to distinguish the two would be helpful for me.

I really can't wait to see Gollum coming to my shelf though! I am not sure how I will prefer to display him, but I think that the height at which I display him will be a factor. If he is on the bottom of the Detolf, I am going to have to go with the Smeagol portrait looking up, and if I put him on the top shelf, Gollum will be leering down from above!

Thanks for the clarification Ringer! I just put together your name and the Walter Sobcheck image. Boy am I slow. "Undies Dude!"

I can't imagine too many people displaying Gollum on his side, though!

I really can't wait to see how he looks in person though, as the two poses are so different. For me, the Aragorn maquette looks totally different from different angles, and looking up at him on a shelf, I prefer the hooded portrait, but if he is a little lower than eye-level, I would swap out the unhooded portrait.

At some point I would love to build two sets of custom shelves though, one for the fellowship and "good" characters, and one for the evil characters. Before I even begin to think about this, I would love to see how big the possible Ringwraith on Steed might be.

If you use some light heating or acid on the base, you will also see a hidden message appear. It will say: "We like to make more money by having international versions on top of the normal ES so never trust our ES - Love Sideshow." Just be happy we're not part of a galactic federation, then there will be an intergalactic version as well.....

The intergalactic version is probably much cheaper when you consider what the conversion rate for latinum to dollars must be right now.

How do you go about ordering an international version anyway?

You know if they did something like a small run for comic con, it would be about taking care of the fans, few would be upset and some would even look favorably on it... but this second run for pure profit is bullskey.
