Green Lantern---Blackest Night (Spoilers)

Has anyone factored The Black Flash into the mix in this series? According to Flash lore it looks like all signs are pointing to Barry Allen being the new Black Flash which is the speedster incarnation of death. If he is then wouldn't the Black Lantern ring itself be useless? Would he have to embrace it completely before being immune? I haven't picked up the REBIRTH story yet but interested to see how that plays out...

See the Black Flash hasn't been characterized as a villain. He is sort of like the Grim Reaper. He appears when a speedster needs to die and upon his touch, people return to the speed force. The only way to beat him, is to outrun him to the end of time where death has no bearing or purpose (I believe Wally did that). Check this out from Rebirth:

Will the two tie together with BLs? Or are the Black Lanterns not manifestations of actual death? Even if they are since Barry seemed to have adopted this persona, will he be immune?

Good questions. It'll be interesting to find out how, or if, these two events tie in together.

Interestingly enough according to a buddy of mine, the upcoming promotion for the Lantern Rings does not include the Black one. That it includes ROYGBIV but not a reissue of the black....

Not 'til November. Here's some info on the rings...

Each ring will ship every two weeks, Yellow on November 4th, Orange on November 18th, Red on December 2nd, Green on December 16th, Blue on December 30th (well, December 23rd now, I guess, thanks to Comic Book-Free Day), Indigo on January 13th and Violet on January 27th.

I'm just going to get them as they come out from my LCS. They've yet to sell out before I've gotten there (knocks on wood). But maybe I'll ask them about pulling Blackest Night stuff for me just in case.

Yeah, the initial reports were wrong in when they ship. They are supposed to come out through the month of November.

I hope my LCS come through with the rings for me as I know there will be tons of people looking for em. I also put all BN titles on my pull lists so I have my fingers crossed.

I hope my LCS gives me a set of rings. I mean, Im buying GL, GLC, BN, SupermanBN, Batman BN, Titans BN. And the other 3 BN series that pickup when the first three are done. But I have no desire to pickup REBEL or any of the other smaller titles

Then they won't. The rings are being used to sell those smaller titles. They get 50 rings per every 50 copies they order. You'd be better just getting the books. You can order JUST the rings online, but they are the same price with or without the books. The only difference would be the final shipping cost.

I'm not sure about that. The initial purpose is to sell smaller titles but there are quite a few readers who don't want the rings anyway. When I bought BN #1 it was one of ten copies left, yet at the register they had at least 25 maybe 30 rings in the bags. The employee said there were quite a few people who passed on taking it. If you have been going to your LCS long enough for them to know you, you might be able to get a set without much hassle.

Its possible, but the rings are being used to get these smaller titles sold. Sure some people won't the rings and just the comics, but they are probably few and far between. Free stuff is free stuff.

Its a gamble either way really. My LCS is really on top of things though so I know I wouldn't get away with it. I'd have to buy the comics, which I plan on doing anyway so I should be taken care of. I'm still going to ask about them pulling the issues/rings for me though on Wednesday.
