Back from SDCC. Didn't get a single Lantern exclusive. They were that hard to get. Huge line every day. I didn't even bother. Now I'm really sad. I really want them all. Or at least GL Hal and the rings from the others. :(

Read GL 44 and BN:TotC 2 last night. Wow! This is definatley heating up. TotC isn't really part of the story. More backstory of all of the corps, but I like that since I don't know much about them to begin with. SO I'm enjoying that just as much.

And they still didn't have that Wonder Woman figure at SDCC so I'm guessing she will be a Black Lantern afterall. Why be so mysterious with her otherwise? Unless she becomes a Star Sapphire, Green Lantern, or at least some other kind of lantern.

That sucks that you didn't get any of the Lanterns Ex's, Buttmunch.

I'm wondering about the heroes...when Hal & Barry are confronted by J'onn, J'onn or his Black Lantern ring appears to be scanning each of them, just as Hal's ring is scanning J'onn.
Hal is glowing green with the BL ring stating "will" and Barry is glowing blue with the BL ring stating "hope"...now I'm thinking that maybe at some point Barry might become a Blue Lantern.

If something like this happens, Wonder Woman might become a Lantern as well. In her book WW has been exiled from Themyscira and has suffered loss at the hands of Genocide. Star Sapphire perhaps?

Thanks --going this Weds--to pick up last weeks and this weeks--was gone last week.
Boy thats alot of weeks in one sentence.

:lol

You're gonna enjoy GL 44! I can't wait for the next chapter of this storyline!

This is the leading thought amongst most of the boards. That an established hero would take the place on the Lanterns to join Hal. Though it was thought that Superman would take Hope especially since he was "Big Blue" and that Wonder Woman would take "Love" which would be the Violet Lantern.

Just got this bad boy:

But if I remember correctly, Barry changed emotions shortly afterward. So it might just be reading their current emotion. Hal would obviously always be Willpower as he is GL. Barry and the other would probably be constantly chaning until they are made a certain lantern.

Batman would obviously be a Sinestro since he was sought out as one originally during the Sinestro Corp war. I'd like to see Scarecrow made one too.

Just read GL#44---what a great story---are dead villains able to become Dark?
TheMike--congrats on the GL---looks really cool---are those limited editions?

I don't remember them showing Barry's emontinal "aura" changing in issue 44 but it will be interesting to see if this theory pans out.

I can see Batman as a Sinestro Corps member...but we still have no idea about Batman's whereabouts or if he's alive or dead. I think we'll get a clue down the line if not full on reveal.

That's what makes the Black Lanterns so scary & lethal, IMO, they can kill you and bring you back. :horror

Congrats on the GL fig, Mike, those pics look great! :rock :rock :rock

Just finished reading BN:TotC #3. A little disapointing as there are only 2 stories and some "bonus" stuff. But the first one is Kilowag's backstory. Best part is the guy that trained him is none other than R. Lee Ermey as a Green Lantern! :lol

One of the last pages of bonus material does hint that someone big is behind the Black Lanterns and it isn't just Scar or Black Hand...

That is true, I think villains will play apart in this especially with the Orange Lantern which is driven by Avarice which is an insatiable greed for riches. To me that feels like a villainous turn someone like Lex. Batman could be anything, if dead he'd be a Black Lantern but if he were brought back or had never died it would depend on what emotion is most driving him at the moment. It looks like from the covers gallery at DC Comics that something will occur with Jonathan Kent, if that is the case I could see Superman becoming a Red Lantern, filled with Anger due to the screwing with his dead father.

Anyone who has died or is killed by a Black Lantern can be turned. The ring is driven by death. Villains who are alive though cannot wield the Lantern without first dying. The GL I just got is the first release DCD 13" that was selling in the $200 not too long ago. I found one for $150 shipped and bit. It was still sealed in package even had to pull the plastic tabs out of the Lantern, I love it.

Thanks! I think Batman was originally sought after because he patrols with Fear and that drives the Yellow ring but depending on his mindset whenever he does appear in this storyline he may not be able to wield it.

This line has me thinking about the possibility of other heroes becoming Lanterns..."The Black Lanterns are collecting hearts full of the splintered light...and soon it be his turn to rise."

We know the Black Lanterns are collecting the splintered light in order to become stronger and accomplish their mission of extinguishing life in the universe.

We've seen The Black Lanterns view Hawkgirl as love, Hawkman as rage and Barry as hope.

When Batman was approached by the Sinestro ring he was told that he "has the ability to instill great fear" in others. Batman is attuned into the yellow spectrum because of his ability to put the fear of God into criminals...however, Batman was able to fight off the Sinesto ring's influence with his strong will.

I think everyone that posseses a part of the splintered light, or is attuned to a particular part of the spectrum, has the potential to become a lantern but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen.

What will happens to the Lanterns,if a whole bunch of heroes become Lanterns?
Is there a limit to the amount of Lanterns in the verse?

I think only by the number of rings in existance. And it would seem they could make more if needed. So, no, I don't think there is a limit.

And yeah, I could see Lex as an orange Lantern. But I wonder what lanterns the Joker or Two-face would be able to become. Joker is all over the place and Two-face has two personalities. Maybe Two-face could be two different lanterns? Not sure we'd see any of these guys as lanterns, but it is fun to speculate.

Two-Face could easily be anger especially considering all the pent up anger with his scarring. Joker on the other hand I think honestly would be too manic and insane to actually control a ring. I don't think any real emotion is strongly centered from the Lanterns already in existence.

As for the amount of Lanterns, there isn't any kind of limit to the amount of Lanterns, all limitations are placed on the Corps by the Guardians themselves. Only John Stewart and Hal Jordan are assigned to Earth while Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner are actually teachers and Corp Leaders assigned officially to Oa.

The thing is Lanterns can be drained by any Lantern by touching their rings to it and saying the oath of the respective colors but Alpha Lanterns especially can do drains on any Lantern despite the coloring due to their powers. Not to mention the central batteries for each Corp can regress the rings at any given time.

Yeah, I could see Two-face being anger and hope. That would be pretty cool actually.

And I think you are right about the Joker. And if anything, his mood swings so much he couldn't keep one emotion long enough. One minute rage, the next greed, then fear, and so on. But still, its fun to speculate.
