Looks good, but I still prefer the Dini/Timm Justice League style animation.

Very, very excited for this. If it's done even partly as well as the other DC originals that have been released lately, I'll be happy. :rock

Looks VERY GOOD! :rock I'll be sure to pick this one up. I'm still a really big fan of Justice League: The New Frontier, so I hope to see something of that overall quality.

Yea, it looks awsome. Havent seen the Wonder Woman one yet but I herd it was good as well. Were getting some pretty good stuff latley animation wise (Justice L. New Frontier, Superman Doomsday was decent, the marvel stuff has been good as well). Reminds me of the mid to late 90's...Spiderman, X-men, the original batman animated series..... damn every kid growing up in that time was lucky as hell when you consider the crap they watch now......

I'm dying for these to start coming out in 3D CGIs but the art in this looks alright. GL is definitely one of my favorite superheroes so its about time he gets some love. Although I'm not sure about seeing Sinestro in his Sinestro Corps uniform already....since this is an origin piece.

People are seemingly upset about the reimagining of the ring. Saying its too much like Kyle's version.

I like it! I want one! It'll go great with my most recent purchase.

Waiting for that one to arrive. :D

Possibly the best ongoing series right now. It deserves an animated movie that's up to par.

I only really know the basics of GL, but seeing as this could possibly be a 1 movie thing it would be a shame to waste Sinestro (as he's the only GL villain I know :lol)

The best thing about all these movies though is we don't have to worry if the characters aren't going to be treated with respect as we already know that they're worked on by people who genuinely love the DC Universe.

I am hoping their next animated movie will be Captain Marvel though, he's only ever appeared in one episode of JLU (The Clash) but what an episode :D

I'll rent it. Personally, I hope that next they will revisit the Teen Titans Judas Contract storyline that was put on hold back when the crappy Teen Titans series was still going on.

The Judas Contract storyline was absolutely the best NTT story ever when I was a kid. That was when the NTT was at it's best!

I remember going crazy when the X-Men & Teen Titans had their crossover! :D

I'm pretty sure Bruce Timm wants to do that one still which is why he wont release any details of what their treatment for it was.

This looks pretty good, can't wait to get it along with the Wonder Woman one as well. Maybe this can hold me over 'til December of next year.

Just saw this at DCD on their Just Announced section... Looks Cool (Odd pose though)! :D

New Animated Green Lantern To Change The Mythology
Prepare yourselves, for you might not be able to handle this. Those with weak disposition should probably stop reading now, because with the upcoming Green Lantern: First Flight animated feature massive changes are coming. This in an alteration to the character that I, for one, am shocked that anyone could even consider. Though given writer Alan Burnett’s pedigree (SuperFriends, Batman, Superman, Static Shock, Batman Beyond and The Batman. Seriously, the guy’s been writing DC cartoons since ^^^^ing SuperFriends.), I’m willing to see where he’s going with this.

“I knew the development people over here at Warner Brothers were looking for a take on Green Lantern, and they were having difficulty coming up with one,” Burnett said in a recent interview. “I was driving my car, just thinking about it, when suddenly an idea occurred to me, and I called them up and said, ‘Have you ever tried this?’ They said, ‘No. Go with that.’ And that’s how it got into it.”
And what would that idea be?
“What I did in the script was just anchor the Green Lanterns into a police force and think of their sectors as precincts.”

The Green Lanterns as a police force?!? Their sectors as precincts?!? Are you ^^^^ing kidding me? That’s not a change, that’s the Storytelling Engine. That’s what the Green Lantern Corps is. They’re Space Cops, Burnett, that’s what they are. How in the name of Alan Moore’s Beard didn’t you get that?

Gah, I need to calm down, think positive thoughts. Since they’re making police comparisons and the plot does involve rookie Hal Jordan being partnered with Sinestro (who is also shown in his Yellow Lantern uniform in the trailer), this could be that Training Day-inspired take on a Green Lantern: Year One-type story I’ve always thought would work. Even though it’s a movie about Hal, it also focuses heavily on alien Green Lanterns. I really dig the costume and character designs. And Ch’p is in it, so my DVD is already bought.

Just got my DVD and watched this last night. Liked it a lot - very much a Training Day with Sinestro supervising and perhaps trying to corrupt the new rookie. I didn't think much of the voice casting when I read it, but Victor Garber as Sinestro is perfect.

Lots of action and still a decent story - but completely plot driven - very little character development. We see that Hal is smart and resourceful but don't really get into his character at all. About 90% of the film takes place off earth - which is a positive for some, but I wanted to see more of Hal discovering his new powers and how that will change his life.

Overall I liked it a lot - although I thought it suffered from the same thing as the Wonder Woman movie - too much action. It's almost non-stop. We need the quiet moments to give the big action sequences more impact.

Pretty much agree 100% on that. Hal gets the ring and then he's pretty much using it like a pro no more than 5 minutes later. Would have liked to see some trial and error aspects of him getting the ring. Sinestro was awesome and how he loses his yellow ring was badass.

That's understandable because in the Silver Age origin there was no learning curve, that is something created upon the Modern Age. Original because the ring is based upon will, it works almost automatically and works in a symbiotic type relationship with the ring bearer. Hal used the ring originally very quickly and was moving like a pro quickly. I believe John Stewart and Guy Gardner as well although I'm a little soft on my Green Lantern history but I know that it wasn't until Kyle that they had a real learning process. I'm off to get mine in a moment.

That's the one reason why it didn't really bother me too much. Hal just has a lot of will power, so the ring pretty did what he wanted. I'll probably watch it again to see if it bothers me a second itme.
