It would be strange considering the GL costume is a construct of the ring. This isn't true for every incarnation but it's probably the most understood version of the suit itself.

Am I the only one that thinks cloth GL, or any lantern, for that matter, costume is weird?

I said it long ago and I'll say it again. If they used an approach like they did on Bucky Cap where most of it's fully sculpted but the black is almost a rubberized material so it still looks like something over skin I think it'd work as mixed media.

I have the GL PF and can't say enough about how AWESOME the paint apps are on the piece. The details on it are beyond amazing because we can see the entire sculpt. IMO, if ANY kind of mixed media was used on the piece, it would have seriously taken away from how great the statue looks. If GL does get a revisit, I believe that SSC will go the fully sculpted route with it as well. It just looks too damn good not to. I have a gut feeling that Flash will be a fully sculpted piece for the same reason.

With the heavy emphasis on mix I can see a revisit having mix media. Some things would look great like Hal's father's jacket imo. As long as suit is classic, I'll take it; even new 52, just no Injustice or 2011 film.

There is always an emphasis on mixed media with SSC. Given that, it's telling when they don't use it. WW, GL, Ivy, and Sinestro, have no mixed media. Ivy was the only piece where they were essentially forced to go fully sculpted. The other 3 pieces could have easily been made with mixed media. They weren't. SSC is doing a better job nowadays of knowing when mixed media just doesn't look right on their pieces. I truly believe that's why we are seeing a few more fully sculpted PFs of late. That's also why I think SSC will offer up Flash and Aquaman as fully sculpted pieces too. I don't think either of their costumes would look good in mixed media. IMO, SSC's mixed media pieces have improved dramatically the last few years. The upcoming modern Thor and Lobo PFs show just how awesome mixed media can look on a statue when done right. That all said, I'm still a HUGE fully sculpted fan. It will almost always be my format of choice.

Finally gave in and purchased the regular GL this weekend at my local comic shop for $399 + tax.

I thought long and hard about this for quite a while. When it was up for preorder, I didn't collect statues so it was an easy pass.
Then the Superman PF was up for preorder. I absolutely loved that one and figured I would just get Supes and he would be the center of my 1/6 collection.

Once I had Superman, I needed to get Batman and hunted down the exclusive. By that time people were complaining how GL was too small next to Supes and Bats so I decided to get the DC Direct Museum statue (which doesn't look great next to those 2 anyway). That GL ended up on the other side of the room from the other 2.

In the interim, I preordered Wonder Woman to finish off the Trinity but I always loved the look of the Sideshow Green Lantern when I saw it at my LCS. This weekend I decided to see if they still had it left and they did so he is now mine.

I figure it will be a few years until Sideshow revisits Hal to fit better next to Superman and Batman. If and when they do, and should I like it as much as this one, I will make sure to preorder it. In the interim, I am very happy with my purchase the weekend.

Here he is:
