I'm only missing the 3 in the front row center, but those are
the mogwai as they are just born, so they aren't as important
to me to have in the set. I do want that Stripe in back though!

JS :D

I am not sure which Stripe that is in the back. I know it's not Ron's as he is not finished with his yet.

It looks very nice, whoever the maker is, but I hope that Ron comes up
with a great looking Stripe Gremlin as well, to go with his Mogwai set.

It looks like it is a 19inch Stripe released from Japan or something....JUN Planning makes them.

He is around $100 and there are two versions.

I know the movies have a big following, but I never really saw the appeal of Gremlins. It's an interesting area to collect, none the less. I didn't realized how many Gremlins have been made or how many people collect them.

I don't know, who was the voice?

But I love the first movie, it was the first PG 13 movie I ever saw and I had to work on my mom to go see it... totally worth it! New Batch was funny, but just didn't have the same magic as the first.

That Stripe is awesome!

Last year at Hershey Park (PA), they had a 2-2.5 foot plush Stripe that looked great for a plush. Alas it was at the softball in a jug game and I just couldn't get it. Wasted like $40 trying to get that little bastard :monkey2

I liked the first movie, but just had the terrible misfortune of viewing
the second movie again, and wanted to put my head through my TV
and then gouge my eyes out and jump out a window and run to the
nearest overpass and fling myself off, to then be hit and dragged by
an oncoming semi it was so awful.

Seriously - I'm amazed at just how terrible it was, BUT the mogwai
and Gremlins in it were darned cute, and therefore were items that
I wanted to have in my collection. I'd love to have the flying Bat
Gremlin from the second film, and also possibly the spider one.

So, to summarize:

1st film - GREAT!
2nd "movie" - God awful to the point of self-flagellation upon viewing
Mogwai and Gremlins - cute as heck and worthy of having as statues.

JS :)

I like them both.

While the first movie is better, it is really a scary movie with some comedy in it.

The second one needs to be viewed as a comedy only and I think it's great!

I will always enjoy both.

How can you not like all of the craziness in part2!!?? The talking Gremlin is great.

It sure is a comedy, but boy it was excruciating to set through for me as an adult. :google :lol
I didn't even remember that Christopher Lee was in the film. I much prefer him
as Saruman, and even Dooku over the mad scientist.

Either way, great critters that I love to have as figures/statues.

:rotfl Well, I did embellish quite a bit there, as I was feeling creative tonight.

I don't ever want to see the second film again that's for sure, but I don't
really hate it quite that much. My disenchantment came from viewing it as
a child and apparently at the time thinking it was GREAT! Then upon viewing
it as an adult and finding out it was vastly different from the first film in almost
every way, just threw me for a loop. The second is a bad, Bad, BAD movie IMHO.

BUT, to each their own by golly!

If anybody who has a contact for Ron would pm me with it, I'd really appreciate it. The only way I know of to reach him is through the RPF board. They have a rotating schedule for new registrants, but they skipped the last "open" month. Until you are registered you can't pm any members.

these are kickin Gremlins! how do i get one by this Ron fellow? and what's this RPF board? thanks

I actually preferred the 2nd film on repeat viewings. It's more purely complete satire and it's perfect for taking on the '80s Trump/rampant consumerism angle. Yes, the first film is a more rounded film with more interesting characters, but for sheer entertainment the 2nd one does it for me.

The Hulkster was great in the second film. That was classic. Everyone really thought it was broken in the theater. ;)

Ironically, on the VHS tape that I rented at that point where it appeared
to be broken, it started in like that, but also at that point my VCR started
to eat the tape and it stopped - unknown to me. So I watched 5+ minutes
of an infomercial that happened to be on before realizing that something
was up, and then ejecting and re-starting the tape.

My VCR kept eating the tape and I was unable to finish the last 5 minutes.
I took it as my VCR also hating the movie to the point of wanting to destroy
it thus sparing me the remaining torture of the last 5 minutes! ;) :lol
