Just returned from seeing this and all I can say is, it Was 3 hours and 15 minutes of senseless violence, explosions, gore, ****s, profanity, zombies, psychos, hot chicks, decapitations, witty dialogue and ****s. :monkey3

And I could not have loved it more!!! :rock

Planet Terror
Rodriguez has really outdone himself with this one, a true Gore-fest! Rose McGowan is amazing-ly hot, Freddy Rodriguez (no relation to robert) was better than I expected and Bruce Willis, Michael Biehn and Jeff Fahey were really great in this flick. It's funny, it's bloody and there are plenty of hot chicks in it!

To quote one of the 'Crazy Twin Babysitters' as she c o c ked a shotgun, "F@#KING COOL!!!" and that's exactly what Planet Terror was. :rock

Death Proof
Once again packed with hot chicks and violence and Kurt Russell, who is still the man by the way! The first half of Death Proof, is REALLY dialogue heavy, so much in fact that some people actually stood up and left. It really dragged for a bit, as always Q.T. fell in love with his own dialogue and it dominated the first half. After that though, it picked up and became quite the fun ride, make it through all tha talking and you will be quite pleased. Not quite as much gore as P.T. but just enough to please the Horror heads!

Fake Trailers
Machete: All I'm gonna say is the tagline, "This time they f@#ked with the wrong MEXICAN!!" :rock :D

Werewolf Women of the SS: A movie about Hitler's plans during WWII to create a race of Werewolf Women to win the war for him, it was pretty funny and their is a hilarious cameo by a big name.

Don't: A Horror trailer about everything you shouldn't do in a horror movie, I laughed my ass off to this one.

Thanksgiving:About a serial killer who strikes during...well Thanksgiving. This one has to be seen to believe, I can't describe it.

All in all GRINDHOUSE kicks a lot of MF'N ass and if you want to see a fun movie that rocks, see this one!!!

I give it four of these!!!
:rock :rock :rock :rock

What he said! It Rocked!

I liked Death Proof more than that though that's accurate that the dialogue dominates beginning, if you love that about QT though, prepare for a treat. And when the action kicks in, I'd say the pay off was awesome.

The concept of the movie really delivered though, a true tribute to all the drive-ins and b movies from the old days. The trailers were great and I remember when horror movie trailers of the 70s were exactly like the "Don't!" trailer!

Great review Jedi.I heard alot about people not liking "Death Proof".People got to understand that Quentin is a heavy dialogue person just like all his movies.Thats what I like about him and Rodriguez is a action person.I haven't seen it yet(waiting for it to come to the local drive-in)but I always like what these guys done in the past......

I was disapointed by both films. I felt RR was spending too much time trying to make his film look like a B movie instead of just making a B movie. And QT film while good was not just dialogue in the begining it was dialogue the whole time except for a 10 min car chase at th end. Now I love QT and his dialogue but I did not feel this was one of his better efforts. It's strange but listening to a bunch of men talking about Modonna was much more interesting and real then 4 girls talking about Vanishing Point.

I felt that both films would have been better if th other guy directed it. Meaning Planet Terror would have gotten some restraint by QT and Death Proof would have had some needed energy from RR. I just could not get into the fact that Kurt "the man" Russell was made to be a crybaby. But purhaps thats just me.

Still had fun but not as much as I thought I was going to.

Planet Terror 2.5 out of 5 stars
Death Proof 3 out of 5 stars
Fake trailors 5 out of 5

That movie was terrible. Best part was Machete. Rodriquez should have made that instead of that boring-as-hell Planet Terror and Death Proof was a complete show-stopper. Quentin is done. His rambling dialogues are pretentious and dull and I was getting really annoyed by those chicks. I wanted Stuntman Mike to kill them all. He was the best part and they turned what could have been an iconic psychopath into a sniveling coward. I lost all respect for Tarantino. He is now officially a has-been.

I have not seen GRINDHOUSE but the comments from dekadentdave got me to thinking ..... the best work Tarantino has ever done was the script for TRUE ROMANCE in 1993. His best dialogue, best characters, just great work. The Dennis Hopper Sicilian trailer scene is unequaled. Did not direct it however. It seems like everything after that has not been as great and almost a parody of the modern drug genre flick.

While I did not hate it as much as you I can see where you are coming from with all your point. It really was a let down.

AND Stuntman Mike hould have been the next great cinema Psycho. QT really blew it with that one.

I still have to go with Pulp Fiction as being his best. True Romanc has not aged well for me. I blame Christian Slater. If Nick Cage was in it instead I think it would be an all time fav of mine. I still like all th ide characters but CS as an actor drives me up a wall.

It woulda been interesting to see how these flicks turned out if they had swapped and directed eachothers projects, but I like them just fine. I also had a bit of an issue with him turning 'Stuntman Mike' into a total coward, but it was also kinda funny and it made for a different twist.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's a 'has been', I just think he missed the mark and way overshot the concept they were going for with Grindhouse. I still enjoyed Death Proof. Could it have been better? Yeah, but I still though it was cool.

I can't f@#kin' stand Christian Slater either! :D

Weeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllll....

I freaking LOVED the whole experience (almost). The fake trailers and commercial were hilarious!

Planet Terror - An over the top violent, cheesy/hilarious dialogue, uncomfortable on screen looking/sounding QT (of course that's almost always the case when I see him in films), action filled flick! Freddy Rodriguez was much better then I expected (he actually was very convincing in the role), Rose McGowen was perfect and delievered a great character, Bruce Willis was good in the 5 minutes here appeared on screen and it was nice to see Naaveen Andrews (Sayid from "Lost") as well. The story was interesting enough.

Death Proof - Yep, it was losing me about halfway through. It was very dialogue filled and didn't seem like it was ever going to go anywhere (but I kept reminding myself that this was QT and that there had to be some good things coming). Kurt Russel did a good job setting up the character but his turning into a whiney cry baby at the end didn't seem to fit at first but when I think about it, it really did fit. His character was never 'taken on' (at least that's what I gathered) by anyone before (he'd always been victorious) but now that he was being 'called out' (so to speak) we find underneath all that craziness is a weak, cry-baby of a man when he's not in control. And the final ending had everyone in the theatre cheering and clapping.

So overall I really liked the whole experience (even if "Death Proof" did drag a bit).

I'm a huge QT fan and not a fan of Rodriguez at all, but I liked Planet Terror a lot and Deathproof only a little. Rodriguez stuck to the assignment pretty much - delivered a gross, high octane, big budget "B" movie.

QT tried something a little different and ended up delivering almost a parody of what he's supposed to be paying homage to. But I think Stuntman Mike was perfect and the entire audience was laughing their ***** off at him. However you need great actors to pull off QT's dialogue heavy scenes and none of these girls had the chops. It was pretty boring until the final bits.

Anyone go "huh?" at the "Zoe Bell as herself" credit? She's the one who stunt doubled for the Bride in Kill Bill I found after looking her up on IMDB.

I looked her up as well as 'Butterfly' they are both pretty hot. :drool

I really dug the whole experience... I preferred Planet Terror over Death Proof, but I think the latter is hurt by following such and over-the-top film.

And the previews are probably the best part of all!

Part of me wants to see this but I just can't as I can't stand QT. That guy IMO is about as over rated as it gets. Though, I may just suck it up to see this.

I had a 'huh' moment for a second and then I finally realized who she was. She was at the "Grindhouse" panel at Comic-con last year so it finally dawned on me who she was and what that credit was all about.

The more I think about the whole film experience of "Grindhouse" the more I think I like "Death Proof" a little more over "Planet Terror". It's strange because I really thought "Death Proof" dragged on the ground for a while but in the end I found it just a little more interesting. Of course that could just be because I found the ending so damn good.

I don't believe it, I actually agreed with Josh. Unbelievable.

Grindhouse made a paltry $5 million opening day. Looks like it will come to a grinding halt at the box office.

Just leave when "Death Proof" starts. You'll still have seen an entire feature-length film.

Or to be fair...leave after the first act of "Death Proof" finishes. Trust me...you'll know when that is. Starts with a creepy, suspenseful bang and then drags its a** for over an hour until a rather "blah" (IMO) ending. Yeah, it's cool but not a great payoff for having endured the previous hour.

I still laugh when I fart, so I have no doubt I will love this/these films.

I will see it Tuesday.
