Maybe they shouldn't have launched it during the Easter weekend. I'm not sure if any gratuitous movies shown during an Easter weekend fare that well . . .

True, a lot of people were out of town or with family, not the best choice of weekends for release. If they would have released it this week Friday the 13th, I think it would've faired a little better.

If they split them up it will only fare even worse. Nobody is going to want to pay twice to see each one. That's like Kill Bill parts 1 and 2. People will wait for DVD and now by splitting them up they will release each one seperately on DVD to double dip to make up for poor BO. And adding the missing sex reels back in destroys the joke of the movie. Bad idea.

Death Proof was horrible. 80 percent useless dialogue that I could have done without which led us to 15 minutes of a chase scene, that while half decent, could have been much better. I seen MUCH better. Like the car chase scene in Ronin, and that movie didn't do much for me either.

I might have been interested in seeing this but when I checked I found that everywhere in Europe they cut the feature apart in 2 seperate movies. So not only will you pay twice the admission, they also release them about 2 months apart, so when the first goes out of roulation the second comes out.

And all the while they complain people go to the cinemas less every year and buy fewer DVDs.....

When i was watching it, people were actually leaving during Death proof. But they were mostly teens... bored by all the dialog?

If Roth were to make "Thanksgiving", for a horror film, it would be successful. Blood, nudity, sex, stupidity = box office gold. 'Turkey F@cker' would become (as Josh would say) iconic.

Hostel 2 looks predictable.

Yeah, it wasn't even part of the movie... yet was the final real preview and looked like a snoozer :rotfl Definitely the worst trailer of the lot!

I would see Machete in a heartbeat :rock

I went to see it earlier today, Planet Terror was good Deathproof was boring except for the car chase. The fake trailers were cool though Hobo With a shot gun was shown in the middle of the real previews which confused me.

Had a GREAT time watching this last night, although I agree the dialogue in DP was almost a deal breaker. I have no problem with dialogue-heavy scenes, even in 'that' kinda movie... But that dialogue was just plain BORING. Not his best stuff by any stretch. Thank goodness the rest of that film (basically anything with Kurt and his car) was so badass, that saved it for me. Kurt is the freakin' BOMB.

And as much as I LOVED the experience as a double-feature, I must be in the minority for thinking that it might actually benefit both films if they split 'em up in theaters. The reason has nothing to do with the running time (in my opinion), I don't think that's a problem. But I think the films are just too different to be billed together like this...maybe...? Like Dave said, Planet Terror and all the faux trailers lived up to exactly what the previews imply. Pure overblown schlocky fun. But Deathproof did anything BUT that. I have a feeling I would have enjoyed DP more if I hadn't just watched PT and the trailers beforehand, if that makes sense. I may have had more patience for the dialogue for instance if I'd gone into the film with a 'cleansed palette', so to speak. Ultimately I found myself rooting for Stuntman Mike, but nausiated by the girls, so the climax had a very different effect on me than Tarantino likely intended. Heck, maybe if they just switched the batting order so that DP is the appetizer and PT is the climactic send-off, perhaps that would do the trick..?

Still, as Dusty said, the whole experience was the most fun I've had in a theater in a very long time. :)

I think that woulda made a world of difference, I loved both anyway, but for those that despised DP it probably woud have been a more enjoyable viewing experience.

I just ate, but I suddenly have the strongest urge for a 'Sandwich'. :D :drool

yeah. that hind-end on Rose :drool
I dont condone it, but I see the temptation that led to Rodriguez cheating on his wife during the filming with her
