Maybe in the final after credits sequence that Wor-Gar didn't stick around for Thanos shows up and goes off on everyone like RO Vader. ;)

And I'm pretty sure the review embargo is lifted at 12:00 am Eastern time. :D

Nope, someone posted all 5 post credit bits and the 5th was ...

Stan Lee talking to the Watchers

... so I didn't miss much.

However, there is the chance that other cut-scenes get added or changed once the movie opens. Possibly even different bits at different theaters.

Be pissed. Be very pissed. :lol

He's mentioned, in the argument between sisters... but its only a reference to Thanos being Nebula's brutal father. There's no talk of his plan. No talk of the Nova Corps... no Nova Corps stuff at all in fact. If Nebula wasn't in this, you wouldn't even know Thanos still existed.

That said, Howard the Duck makes an appearance.

Ummmmm

Ummmmmm

Ummmmmmm

I guess I still need to watch this if i'm going to care about them in IW lol.

How is Thanos pointless he is the main cosmic villain leading up to IW.

GOTG and Thor are both cosmic so it makes perfect sense for them to be interacting with Thanos before any superhero on earth does.

But that was GOTG 1 I figured he would have a 10% larger role in this albeit in the background catching the attention of the GOTG/Nova corps that he is a growing threat to earth.

If after 5 after credit scenes there is no mention of Thanos i'm going to be pissed lol.

Is not that Thanos is pointless himself, but all his cameos so far have been pointless. They just are. They don't add much to anything except tease him for the fans....

There's so much teasing that I already lost interest in thanos.

If he was going to show up then have him have a bigger role

Now I take with me Rogue One to sleep,
I pray the Lord my Saw to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord Rogue One to take.

:lol

I'm sure GotG2 will make over a billion, get a 90%+, have DiFabio tearing up and all that but even my kids just aren't getting sucked into the hype. The consensus in my house is that it's a "rent it at home" flick based on the trailer and TV spots. They're like me when I was their age, they don't want "cute" they want "badass." Baby Groot is just an ewok made of bark.

OK, here it goes...

No specific details yet, but here's my feelings...

I think they tried to ESB this movie. Split up the heroes so there's lots of cutting back and forth... but the group works best when its a group. The separate storylines seem... trite for the most part. There's some fun, and quite a few laughs, but ... it is no where as good as the first movie. There's no mission, no adventure for the Guardians to pursue as a team, and tragically, no real villain. The bad guys assigned to 'play the fools' are used at the expense of jokes.

There's also very little swindling and cheating, which was the best part of the first movie. And Star-Lord is so enamored with his new Pop that he isn't even the same character for half the movie. There's no 'dance-off bro' (which is good), but there's also not much Star-Lord there either. Just a lost little boy.

The entire movie feels like it has no direction -- meaning movement forward -- which you will realize within the first 10 minutes (as soon as they land in the forest). From there, the story just meanders along, dividing into several predictable subplots with characters having self-realization moments, and lots of jokes... the best of which you saw in the many trailers. Too many.

There's the standard 'big climax' -- which makes no sense really -- and is awkwardly complicated, and then quickly wrapped up with unrealistic solutions.

There is a 'big surprise' -- but anyone with two-cents will see it coming, or if they didn't, they will nod with the 'of course' once it happens.

There's some surprise cameos as well -- well, only a surprise if you haven't been keeping up with Marvel's current business model. Seriously, the casting choices of late seem driven by the 90's sensibilities in casting for the Burton/Schumacher Batman films.

So, as you can guess, I was really let down by this movie. Perhaps I expected too much (this was my most anticipated movie for summer). I would have liked more adventure to balance the silly humor and music. That's not to say it isn't fun. It's got a warm heart, and lots of jokes, and even more music... but this movie is pretty much the trailers and the goofy marketing campaign. That's it. There's nothing more to it.

I'll be really curious what the official reviews say after midnight tonight. I might be very alone in my feelings. And I'll be even more curious what some of you guys think.

Sorry guys. I wanted to love it. If nothing else, I hope your experience is better with lower expectations.

It almost sounds like they gave James Gunn too much creative freedom and control. I'll still watch it in theaters.

It's worth seeing... but keep expectations low.

It's almost like one of those odd episodes in a good series, one where the writers "tried something different". Maybe it will 'work' for others.

I did not see it in 3D... but it's probably a great addition.

I think that's exactly what happened here. It doesn't feel like its full of studio decisions except the casting (and some of the trite tie-ups). It's almost like they embraced the fact that they didn't have anywhere to go story-wise and just let the "characters" go where they may.

I would have preferred to deliver positive news.

Anyway its just one man's opinion. Many more opinions to come over the next week. We'll all see how this balances out.

Oh, and I almost forgot... the movie's 2 hrs and 17 mins long. Way too long for this kind of jokey thing.

Funny thing in life: the movies keep getting longer, the attention spans shorter.

Does little Groot steal the show like some people were predicting?

I think I'll be going to see Alien in some arty cinema with one of my friends on the day that my other friends are going to see this. After Wor's review I'm not gonna be all that upset about missing it.

Sounds like this movie needed a Gilroy and maybe a trip or two back to the drawing board. Even the best directors need help. Failing to recognize that risks Phantom Menace Syndrome.
