Yea. I also heard one of the big robots snaps the neck of one of the big mosters. Lots of building are destroyed and lots of people die. Apparently the robots don't care.

Apparently there's not much given to that. The Monsters are Aliens from some inter-dimensional portal. The main charatcer is a disgraced ex-soldier.

I kinda know what to expect when going to see this kind of movie though.

On the plus side - Seems better than BAY and Transformers crap. Yay!
Del Toro is better at channeling his 12 year old boy better than Bay.

But that's my worry too. Also sounds like it could have no substance, just a big toy commercial, and yes, made for 12 year old boys who are gonna love this stuff.

Well, this movie should do better than G.I. Joe, Supes and Lone Ranger with the critics. It's a bit of a crowd pleaser IMO, and has enough depth story-wise, but they might go after the acting a bit. With that said, the cinematography is absolutely amazing, and the CGI is one of the best ever, as well as the 3D... so, I think it will score Fresh on RT, but if I had to guess, around 70%.

And that's exactly where it is right now... judging by the clueless negative reviews, I think it will go down a little bit... maybe 60% but doesn't matter to me TBH... will be watching it again this week!

Guillermo del Toro doesn't rise above the obligations of staging a film of this sort as a multi-level video game, a stylish but programmatic ride toward an inevitable final boss battle.

I love all the actors Del Toro has chosen way more than any of the "actors" Bay chose. This is better than Transformers and all I've seen are the trailers. I can tell the robots apart, and understand what they are fighting.
