Every single image we have seen thus far led me to think Luke was shorter. It's not a big deal that he won't be, but it's the principle of the matter.

SDCC is annual... every year one can expect it and every year SST offers and exclusive... is it just me, or are they trying to take advantage of our loyalty? sure, they will sell out regardless, but 2000 people will have a couple of half * troopers...

is this what we are worth in their eyes? half * troopers?

Everyone offers Ex for the show so no they're not taking advantage off of us and nobody is forcing anyone to buy them. I plan on getting them and don't consider them half * (which by the way you just went around the language filter) troopers. They'll look nice and make for nice representatives with my other armored figures. I think a lot of undies are getting in a bunch over something that isn't worth the aggravation.

And you sir, have quoted a bypassing of the language filter-- Consider yourself banned-- leave your geek card on the desk on your way out.:D

The head sculpts I think are a great version of both of these characters and remember that the two helmets have the inner workings and the belt on Luke is unique-- These are not JUST two mediocre troopers.

Get them if you want them (I will). Pass on them if you don't. That's the great thing about collecting.

I'm hearing you. I'm not sure how I want to display these; as troopers or do I just want them because of the head sculpts:confused:
The helmets are nice but only really work with Han or Luke as stormtroopers. By themselves they are just overly-detailed helmet.

I'm getting them just for the possibilities. I'll also pick up more troopers down the line.

It does amuse me how personal some people seem to take choices for convention exclusives, like it's a status symbol to get one and how dare any company not put one out that they want or feel is worthwhile.

They're just another product, any Ex. Sideshow's put out that I've ever seen has usually been a variant or a common product, it almost has to be in order to keep it a bit more limited than standard releases and not piss off the world. If they made the Ex. pieces something really super duper special beyond standard and made it rarer and hard to get, those not going to the show and not fortunate to get an NA would go nuts. Gentle Giant played that game and it bit them in the ass. SSC cares about it's customers so they try to reward folks going to these places while also having consideration for those that can't and helping them out.

Yeah, even as easy as it is to get SS Con Ex. Thats why their choices are usually things folks can skip because its an item you can get or pass on easy enough. So I totally agree with you Sean on your thoughts here.

Bottom line is that SS went with the "bottom line".

It apparently is not worth the cost to create a shorter sized figure for Luke, period. They felt that offering two identical figures with different headsculpts was the way to go.

There is actually no need to alter the Stormtrooper outfit in any way. As mentioned previously by TheNam, Luke takes the suit off of a "regular" sized ST. If it were to look a little bulky, that would play into the scene. As a matter of fact, looking at my Stormtrooper, there's some leeway in the space found above the thigh armor pieces, which would allow it to fit on a shorter figure without looking awful.

The lack of standardization in character sizes is really hurting this line. (Ki Adi Mundi, ST Luke, etc...)

Actually, its not the lack thereof that is hurting this line, it would be the poor choices of the modular bodies they have chosen for each character. SSC is certainly on the right track by trying to offer varying sizes for different characters but so far, they have seemed to almost randomly select the sizes for each one w/o rhyme or reason. Why Ki was on a short body? Who knows...would it have better served the representation of the character if it were on a large buck body? Sure it would have.

Now with Luke, the frustration or angst is caused by SSC deliberately making Luke appear shorter in their promo shots. Why? Who knows...one can only speculate that they know he should have been shorter, so lets just pose and photograph him as if he were shorter, that way collectors know they can display him in a way that looks accurate to the scene. Now this wouldn't have raised many eyebrows if they would have let folks know upfront. Cause of course most folks thought it was shorter because of two pieces of info that came directly from SS. 1. The pics show it shorter. 2. They have said that the new armor and/or Pro bodies would be modular.

Bottom line, it was misleading at best and dishonest at worst. At least we know now and for those that feel its a deal breaker, they can pass. For those that feel its no big deal, you can buy it. But in this case, I think anyone who is bothered by this has a legitimate right to moan and groan about it.

I don't care how big an apologist you are, you can't defend this at all...there was just simply no real reason to show this product like this. It's not like they owe anyone an apology or nothing but it will give folks pause when considering later purchases...and with the competition, that's not a position SSC or SW fans would want this line to be in.

Im going to pre order and keep an eye out for reviews from those who got the figures in San Diego.

Eh. I was already cool with getting it or missing it so the fact that Luke and Han are the same height just add to it. I'll be here on Friday but I won't cry buckets if I don't get them.

Well, I called Sideshow to ask about using points and they told me "no points on Comic Con items." Therefore, PASS. If I could use my points, I would have gotten them and modded Luke but at $200 they're too expensive. I'll order a second Stormtrooper instead.

The deception continues with the pic on the ordering page. :horror

If I was going to comic con, I would ask sideshow why they did that with the pictures and film it. I hope someone ask why the deception... Regardless Im still ordering...
