I watched the rerun of the premiere on Wednesday, and the 2nd episode yesterday. Like what I've seen so far! I like the fact that they didn't gloss over what happened in the premiere and were still feeling the fallout in Ep 2. That fungi garden was just insane. But my favourite moments were the interactions between Dr. Lecter and Will. I just loved the way Hannibal was probing and baiting him, finally getting Will to admit that he enjoyed shooting Hobbs.

I want to believe that this show is going to stick around, but after what NBC did to Awake, I'm wary of investing into a show just to see it cancelled.

No, he speaks with a foreign accent.

The moment they put subtitles on him (like they've used on Amazing Race and other network shows that feature many non-native speaking English people) that's when I'll give up on the show.

I have no problem discerning what he's saying. :dunno But then maybe I'm just used to listening to people with thick foreign accents.

Agree with most here. First episode was pretty good, second one average. The acting and production values are great. Mikklesen is a bit hard to understand at times.

I also love the soundtrack.

I'm actually starting to warm up to it! I liked the second episode a little better. I liked how the plot was a little more straightforward than most crime procedurals. There were no red herrings. Will figured out quickly it was the pharmacist and they went and got him (although he got away the first time). I also liked how they nailed the reporter, also quickly. In any other procedural, there would have been a lot of "who is this person and how are they finding out all this information?" and a big deal of trying to figure it out. Not here. I found that refreshing because those are just smaller elements to the bigger picture which is Will's character and his interaction with Lecter.

And the best part? A Wonderfalls reunion! The pharmacist was the priest from "Wound Up Penguin". And Gretchen Speck! Gretchen freakin Speck! They actually used the same character and same actress the from Wonderfalls episode "Pink Flamingos" for the victim! Wow! I am officially won over.

Huh, I saw Wonderfalls years ago and would have had no clue there was any connection had you not posted. In fact, I barely remember that show, though I enjoyed it at the time.

OMG, Wonderfalls has to be one of my favourite shows of all time. I try and watch it every once in a while.

What I love about the show is that it managed to become a self-contained mini-series. There were only 13 episodes and FOX really screwed them like they screwed Firefly by airing the episodes in wacky order and not airing the first episode. After the first couple of episodes aired, it became clear that the show would be canceled, so they wrote the last few episodes so it wrapped up the story. And the whole cast is fantastic. It's hilarious and clever. I LOVE IT (which is why I was expecting more from Hannibal, since I've liked Fuller's other shows so much).

And of course, Caroline Dhavernas who plays Will's fellow professor is from Wonderfalls as well. Nice how Bryan Fuller pulls in actors from his old series. I hope to see some Dead Like Me or Pushing Daisies people on the show someday!

Finally had a chance to watch the second episode off my DVR, and I enjoy what was another solid episode.

Though I wouldn't consider myself an expect on Hannibal lore, I've read all of Thomas Harris' Hannibal books, and I like this modern re-telling. Pretty interesting that they changed Freddie Lound's to a female.

Huh, didn't realize that was supposed to be the same character.

Don't read spoiler if you aren't familiar with Manhunter/Red Dragon:

Actually removes some of the suspense now, as I was expecting Hannibal to kill her sooner or later :lol

My GF and I have the second ep on our DVR, but haven't had the chance to watch it. I hope it's as good as the first one. I kind of like how they play with Will's perception of everything. I hope this one lasts.
