Harmy's Star Wars Despecialized Edition Remastered MKV2.5 Now Available

Just a quick update - after a suggestion from gibby (thanks for the push), I have updated the first post of this thread. The MKV 2.5 is available now. If you want just the movie and don't need a bonus disc or all the different languages, this is the one to go with. Simply PM one of the 4 members who have stated they can help and you will be on your way to having Star Wars back to its original format.

A Blu-Ray w/ Bonus Disc is going to be released, but not until later in 2014 as Harmy is quite busy.

Once you have acquired the version you want, please post here so I can update the list. Thanks.

A behind-the-scenes of the work he had to do to reconstruct the movie to get it as close to the original theatrical version that he could. Color corrections process, building of the matte paintings, editing sounds and dialogue, etc.

Version 1.0 of ESB and ROTJ are out there. He plans to update those, but even at V1.0 they are better than the commercial releases.

I haven't been asked for money but I expect to help out with cost of materials and postage. Where are you getting the idea he is making a profit from?

He has asked for contributions to help get the hardware needed to complete the projects.

He is not selling copies of the end product.

I don't see him begging. No one is paying him for his time and he is freely sharing with tons of fans.

If you choose not to help him, then ok... he's not going to stop you from getting it...

Those that help only help all get the project to fans sooner. I have helped. I will help again.

This takes a tremendous amount of personal time and effort and it is appreciated.

If it helps get the product into my blu-ray player that much sooner ... I am all for it ! Cause I will have YEARS upon YEARS of enjoyment from the end result.

I just don't think he deserves a computer for doing something illegal. That's all.

The same can be said in this fashion... "Dracula doesn't deserve to have the Harmy Fan Edits as he didn't put any time into it".

LOL. Trust me, he did not get all the funds for the system from contributions, it just allowed him to take it to the next level and fast track the project.

For what he is giving the fans... that is nothing in my eyes... I truly have the trilogy of my youth back as it was when I sat down in the theaters as a youngster.

I can live without them. Prefer the canon editions as they are. But if Disney decides to hire this guy to restore the theatrical cuts and make official releases, I'll definitely pay up. As for now, this is just some random guy doing something illegal, asking people to give him money for a new super computer to continue doing something illegal. I'm all for piracy as long as the uploader doesn't get a dime. Is there a way to see how much he gets or is it up to him to say: "I've got the 1000 now, don't donate any more!".

So needless to say, you don;t want to be on this list LOL.

And yes, when he had enough to cover what he plainly listed and their costs, he stopped accepting donations.

Oh and BTW, he already built the computer.
He mentioned he needed to add memory to assist with the program he is using and members willing to support the project offered to assist.

Hehe no, I'm good. I just drop by here sometimes to see the progress of the project. I can download these myself and watch them on my computer which is connected to my big screen tv.. But.. I'm a bit confused, are these only 720p? Or are there full HD versions somewhere?

No, 720p is the highest you will find due to the mix of source materials being used.
