I agree with JK Rowling.
"Alfonso's version of my world. It's his baby. For the very obvious reason that books and films are such different media, to do a very literal adaptation maybe wouldn't serve the material best, and I think he's done exactly what I hoped he would do."

Meh, blame Bernie Wrightson for the werewolf. His style was a large inspiration for the bipedal design, most notably the legs. I for one have always favored his wolf. They did go pretty skinny with Lupin, but I assumed that reflected his human frailty.

And Cuaron has made the best Potter film by far. If only Harris could have appeared as Dumbly instead of the manic, hippy a-hole performance Michael "I refuse to read the books" Gambon gave. They've all been downhill since 3, especially the lackluster stuff Yates has contributed with 5 and 6. :monkey4

Its really when Yates comes in that all the magic is drained. Half Blood Prince was alright. Order of the Phoenix is absolutely undeniably the worst film in the franchise. Dark films don't need to be unenjoyable.

I rank the films:

3
1
4
2
6
5

My problem with the werewolf was that it differed so much from the usual look of a werewolf. He was skinny, long limbed, and not entirely threatening looking. He should have been bulkier at least. I get that Lupin isn't exactly in the greatest of health, but don't think his werewolf should be unhealthy looking. If anything it should look healthy. Like its draining the health from Lupin's human form.

Oh man, I have to disagree. The werewolf design gave me the chills in POA. The way he moves, and the length of his legs, remind me of the Maned Wolf - which also terrifies me.

I thought the Lupin werewolf was very cool. Kudos to them for not going with some cutesy TeenWolf or Universal ripoff.

The single greatest loss to this entire film franchise was the death of Richard Harris.
I don't know who Gambon is portraying but it isn't Dumbledore.

I think Harris was too frail to do some of the things Dumbledore did in the later movies. Also, I like that Dumbledore stopped being a Merlin clone.

100% agreed. Gambon was NOT Dumbledore. Harris was. I'd love for them to do a special edition of all of the films (ala Lucas) with Harris CGI'd in place of Gambon.

WTF? :slap Harris' visage is that important? A live human is still better than a fake person giving a performance some soul.

Losing Harris was big, but Gambon does a fair job. Certainly better than some animator could do.

Finally read all the books, yeah I know a few years late. :slap :lol

It is interesting to see how much things depart from them in the 5th and 6th films.

No, any poorly trained animator would have created a far superior ghost Harris Dumbledore than anything Gambon ever did.

I think Gambon is a fair Dumbledore. I came to the books through the movies so maybe I am biased. Harris did have a spiritual quality which Gambon lacks, but I think Gambon has done a pretty good portrayal.

I think the biggest problem I have with Gambon is that Harris was PERFECT. And then Gambon didn't even seem to try and mimic what Harris did. Had Gambon been cast from the start, I probably would have been OK with him, but having the role cast so perfectly first just made Gambon that much worse in my eyes.

I prefer Gambon to Harris. Harris always seemed like he was dying, while Gambon was more energetic, which is how Dumblebore was described as being in the books.

That being said, I loved Harris as an actor - and I liked him as Dumbledore, but when I saw Gambon replace him - I liked the change.
