What's all the yellin' about?

I agree with Memnoch that Rowling has all this as backstory and this is an instance where the question came up. To go with Tom's joke, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she answered Madame Hooch isn't diabetic but this or that person was. Like Memnoch said, knowing all that stuff makes characters more realistic and weaves a richer tapestry when interacting with each other. Now whether that means she revealed that information for this reason or that is impossible to say, and I can't say it wasn't for money, but I don't think it was. I think she just loves the universe she created (as so many of us do) and she wants us to know as much about it as we want.

As for the debate about homosexuality and children...I've done some research in the area of identity development as a Masters level psych intern. I was helping one of my professors do adolescent group therapy in identity development, and I never found a scholarly article that really gave good strong empirical evidence for nature vs. nurture in homosexuality. If anyone is really interested in the statistics, I can see if I can find all my old info on the topic.

Its really not about nature vs nuture, the reality is more a combination of factors (biological and social) that lead to pretty much anything we as individuals do. And I think sexual orientation (heterosexual or homosexual) is one where you can see a combination of factors in expression and self-identity.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say Galactiboy, but rereading it I see my point got lost a bit when I was trying to shorten the message.

I think also confusing the matter is that while there seems to be natural born homosexuals and natural born heterosexuals, as far back as the Kinsey Report we have data that there are folk who are one or the other mostly -- like Senator Craig or Anne Heshe. I think this is where the gay bashers who turn out to be gay get into trouble (like those evangelical Christian leaders whose names escape me). Unless they are trully conflicted and self-hating, they themselves problably fall into the catagory of being mostly hetero and find themselves either compelled or just curious and mistakingly believe everyone is just like them.

I've loved tits since I can remember. I used to steal my Dad's playboys when I was 6 and I used to try to catch the babysitter changing when we went swimming. :monkey5:monkey5:monkey5

My son was about three or four and I heard him talking in his room, so I popped my head in and asked what he was doing.
He was laying in his bed with his Princess Leia figure tucked in next to him.
He turned and in a very annoyed voice, said "Daddy, I don't need you in here right now!"

At least it wasn't greedo or Luke. :lol
