I must say that I feel underwhelmed with Sideshow handling of the 30th Ann Year...

One of the Sideshow reps told me that so much new product hit soo fast, than many feel money pains, and he indicated they have slowed it down to allow people time to breathe..
I think you will find that is it for the C4 announcements. I think you will find the reason Sideshow have 'slowed it down' is not allow people to breathe, but simply that the product they are producing is not selling. It's not surprise that after a strong start, Sideshow then offered up a bucket of ****e, 3 Endor Troops, Ventress, Plo Kloon, all of which may have worked further down the line, but the fact they brought these out together and so early in the line, means they are now reaping the 'rewards' of trying to push this crap on us so early on.

It's no surprise to me that the last three announements have been a-list characters, and I would strongly suspect, accordong to my sources, that the next few announcements will be a/b-list characters.People keep asking where's Snowbunny Padme, well, Sideshow have dug themseleves into a hole, and the only way out of it is not to announce made up characters that never appeared in the film.

Sure you can do it with 3 3/4 inch $6 figures, but not $50-$60 figures. Sideshow have had their fingers burnt, and the only way out of it for them is to go a-list.

Which is something I said at the beginning of the year, and was called a **** for saying so, but it now seems I may have had a point.

As I said then, only time will tell, and I think it is!!!!!!

Soo Plo Koon wasn't in the film? Nik Sant either? Only one that wasn't in the film was Asajj far as I recall.

Nik Sant is in the F-list, lol. :rotfl

But Homer makes a valid point. I really do commend SSC for making Nik, Kit Fisto, Jabba, and a set of critters but they need not get lost in the obscurity or they will get stuck with tons of inventory.

They need to keep the SW line desirable. Cut the edition sizes some more, create some urgency.

I think if they kept sizes at about 2k and for for every 1 A lister they do 2 non A list figures it would work best.

I think there is a combination of things that go into keeping the line going and the pace at which it comes out.

1- Breathing room for the collector. - I'm sure they looked at cancellation and return numbers last year when the Han-Obi-Mace-Qui onslaught took place in the fall and realized for many collectors, that's a lot to get thrown at them at once. It also factors that by being partnered with Medicom and Hot Toys, they realize other companies with greater costs are putting our product at the same time and many of us get from all 3 and it can be an expensive proposition to get too much stuff at once and will force cancellations that given time to save, wouldn't occur.

2- Edition Size selection. - Now, there's a few ways to go about this. One, which would annoy the limited edition collectors, would be to make one edition only of figures and have it be inclusive, make only as many as people who want them during the given period, make the ordering window 2 weeks and then that way, you're not left with leftover inventory. Another option, would be to base edition sizes on characters, make the Bib Fortuna and Asajj's in smaller numbers, and especially their regular edition numbers since it seems with the niche characters, the Exclusives are most sought after than the regulars, and then you keep the numbers higher for the popular characters that would be in high demand of any version, but still low enough to make them feel limited.

3- Development time period. - Sideshow's first onslaught of figures were mainly PT, human Jedi with a great deal of room for clothing pattern and fabric reuse, as well as mass used base bodies and hands making the ammount of unique items needed to be produced smaller, where now they're branching more into some aliens and larger pieces like Jabba, so there is more to rolling them out than what we've seen so far.
