this new one is different them the others. It only has one row of four pins. The manual says it's the jumper block that limits the data transfer rate to 1.5 gbits.

When ever the monitor is plugged into the tower I get that analog message. When it is unplugged it says checking for signel. I put back on the original hdd but it does that same thing for that as well.

It's because the PC is not recognizing the new HDD or the old HDD, can you tell me everything that you've done so far. It's hard diagnose without knowing what steps you've taking. You also switch from a IDE HDD to a SATA drive from what I can tell of you pic up above. Do you know if the SATA connectors are live and turned on in bios or if they are hot.

Basically for the steps it was this morning I powered it down and unplugged all the cords from the back if the tower. The while time the monitor said check for signal" (or something like that). Worked out both harddrives and blew out the tower with some canned air.

Came home this afternoon and hooked up the new hdd with voth cords. Moved remaining out of way of fans and such, plugged it all back in and powered the pc on. Don't know I it happened when I first plugged the monitor in or when I powered it up. I'm pretty sure that was all the steps taken. I did check all cords and cards to make sure they were securely in pllace.

I would assume those sata are active as I never shutthem off before. But as of now I. Can't even get to bios to check since I got no monitor.

Have you ever replaced or put in a new video card in this machine, is there a system video output on the motherboard?

I changed out the graphics card along time ago. Not sure what the othhdr thing you said would look like though.

Is your monitor a VGA 15 pin, if the PC had integrated graphics then there should be a port on the back of it from the stock system video card which is on board and soldered to the motherboard. There should be a standard VGA 15 pin there on the back of the machine besides from the video card that was upgraded.

What is the model of this machine and maker?

I've just looked up the specs on the machine and it seems to have a integrated video card which means whenever you replaced it with the new video the drivers automatically override the system board card whenever the old HDD was in the machine.

Ok plug the monitor into the old video card in the slot of the pic that you just showed me and then boot up the machine with the new HDD in the machine btw.

I dont recall ever having the monitor hooked up onto the videocard before, if Im not mistaken it has always hooked up to the port in that one picture showen. Either way I ended up plugging the monitor into the new card and it worked, so I was able to install the new HDD onto my system.

I think I need to install some drivers though since my pc seems to run slower and I am unable to change the size of my monitor display. I like the icons smaller and more screen used, but it stays at a larger screen. I went into properties and when I change them and click apply, it stays the same size wise.

Yeah that's what I was thinking from either one of those two graphic cards drivers, one of them has to be function. Hard to tell what your looking at without being there but that's what the analog no signal on monitor usually means... means that the graphic interface connection is not hot/live.

Yup install those graphics drivers and that should fix it, if you know the manufacturer of the card I would go to the website and grab the latest for the operating system you are running.

Glad things are moving for once again :rock

AH HA!!! I did have the monitor plugged in that one spot, its just I needed to go into Bios and change the video thing to AGE from PCI. I rememebered doing that before but couldnt remember for what. Also after a few drivers installed the PC is running alot smoother. Just need to get this damn printer installed and Im set for the hardware.

Word... we would of figured it out one by one, just an a eliminating process :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

Gets tricky once drivers are installed on a old hard drive for the new graphics and then by replacing one thing throws another out of whack. I always check bios settings to see if it actually picked up the new HDD or whatever I'm installing but it's pretty hard to see the BIOS whenever you can't see anything on the screen :lol

lol yeah, I read up on some things when the monitor first went wacko and I kept seeing solutions and such. Thing is it required that you actually are able to see what you are doing on the screen.

Thanks for all the help.:banana:banana:ted

I'm having some issues with my pc as well. Right now I cant get my pc to load into windows normally (using XP Pro and yes I know I should be using Windows 7). Not sure whats wrong but I can get Safe Mode to load.
