Well something is going on here in Australia. Only in the last week or so the police and customs are cracking down on any weapon/replica being imported into the country. One distributer, Ikon Collectibles, has had to cancel its orders, and I have heard of other people having their rifles stuck in customs and are not going to get them released.

I was trying to get a B709 permit to import the pulse rifle into the country and was told (after I rang three weeks later) that all B709 forms are to be put on hold indeflinately. So in light of this, I have had to cancel my order, with much disgust. F@*cking pissed.

not to gloat but no problem here in the UK which I was shocked about. Got my OD pulse rifle aftger 20 years of waiting!

That's real bad news man, at least you didn't lose any money. What's the deal if you've paid & customs won't release it?

I had to give up the idea of getting this one due to funds... I recently bought the Alien Warrior & I can't justify another $800 plus on stuff from the same movie. That, and having to deal with customs steered me away.

I have heard two different things: one from customs saying that you had to find someone to buy it out of the country and send it to them without even seeing it. Not sure of the details of that. There is also a possibility of it being destroyed.
The other is, I got an email back from HCG after my post the other day saying "that if it is held by customs they send it back to HCG".
They also tried to entice me to keep up the payments if I still wanted the rifle, and that they would fully refund me if it gets held in customs.

So I don't quite know what to believe at the moment.

Where are all these pics that people promised way back when?? Lol I'm getting mine this week and really excited and need more pics :D

Hi all, I've wanted a Pulse Rifle replica since I first saw Aliens when was a kid and I was ecstatic when HCG released on which I could finally afford.

Unfortunately, I found this thread while googling why my HCG Pulse Rifle was seized by customs.

I ordered my HCG PR last year and finished up the 6 payment plan in December, it arrived at local customs on the 18th and I received a letter in the mail today saying it was seized and will be destroyed within 30 days if I don't apply to have it released. I checked with HCG before I placed the order if they had sent the rifle to Australia before and I was assured that they had sent similar items without problems and now I see that some people have successfully received the rifle in Aus.

The letter mentions all sorts of scary words like prosecution and fines, but gives me the option to apply for release upon which customs will begin legal procedures which will cost me upwards of $400, even if I win! I'm not sure where to go from here, I have form B709 (Importation of firearms and replicas) ready to go to NSW Police but according to the customs letter even if I get that permission they will still "prosecute" me and I will incur the legal fees.

Can anyone who has successfully imported the Pulse Rifle give me any advice, please?

Heard that people are having a lot of problems on importing this piece into Aus. In the other forum or in The RPF there are discussions regarding this matter, hope that helps...

I found the RPF thread and the discussion there looks the same as the alienlegacy forums, tommin has reposted some info from a guy named Tony who seems to have successfully imported a rifle privately in to Australia.

I have sent Tommin an email asking for Tony's details but he hasn't responded yet.

Ouch, that sucks man.

I received a similar letter from them last year in regard to a knife, I've built up a bit of a collection in the last 15 years or so. The Aussie dollar was strong so I bought a few from the US recently.

I assume you got the same letter saying that the item has been pinched and will be destroyed by the Crown in 30 days of date of the issue unless you fill out the required forms & submit a claim. Which will commence legal proceedings (whatever that means). Basically the standard Aus gov department threatening letter.

For these kind of items it's best to get the required form approved before shipping & fax it to the seller to place in the package so when Customs busts it open it's the first thing they see. If you want it released you will probably need a Customs broker & a wad of cash to get it safely delivered.

I'm sorry but I don't know how to proceed from this point, I bailed on my purchase, let customs have it. Best thing out of whole situation was that I found a good dealer here in Aus so I can get all the stuff I want without having to run the customs gauntlet.

I'm sure some other guys that have successfully imported the pulse rifle will chime in soon with some more useful advice.

I spoke to customs about that legal proceedings clause and was told that it's only there for repeat offenders and that as long as I lodged my B144 (form for return of seized goods) and had appropriate permits in hand or in process I should be fine.

Unfortunately, the requirements set out by NSW Police to possess this sort of item are insane:

A permit ($127 for 5 years), joining an approved collectors club (about $100, then $60 a year), building/buying a secure storage area for the item including security grilles on all windows and deadlocks ($500++) and having Police inspect the secure storage ($100 per inspection).

I did find this: https://www.megatron.net.au/Index.htm which would have helped me if not for the huge expense of level 3 secure storage being a requirement. I suppose I fail as an ALIENS fan if I'm not willing to reconstruct my house to hold movie memorabilia.

So, I am going to ask Customs to return the item to sender, good news for anyone who wants an OD Pulse Rifle, HCG should have +1 stock within a few weeks.

I'm not a happy camper, but I only have myself to blame. I shouldn't have taken HCG's word on this being allowed in the country, I should have done this research before I ordered the PR.

I hope this acts as a cautionary tale for anyone else who wants to order anything potentially prohibited from overseas.

I wouldn't be surprised if they thought the HCG Alien bust was a real Alien :lol

..................Ridiculous

The most ridiculous part is that this rifle is nowhere near being able to be customized to fire real bullets, or even be mistaken for a real gun. It's a fantasy piece FFS.

The regulation around replica or imitation firearms cover this, the exact wording escapes me but it's something like:

"resembling or could easily be mistaken for a real gun"

...which I suppose the PR satisfies, in a dark ally if your victim is Mr McGoo, but they have to appeal to the lowest common denominator so in it goes to the same bucket they classify accurate gun replicas (or disabled real guns), flick knifes and other prohibited weapons.

The irony is of course that the Pulse Rifle poses no real threat other than as a bludgeoning weapon, which my wife would no doubt restort to if I considered converting one of the rooms in our house to level 3 secure storage.
