Finally!! I went back to CC last night after work and get a different salesman and he accepted the pritned off CC coupon. You can't beat the HD drive for $171!

You should have your wife use the same coupon for the 360 ;)

Remember, you can use the HD-DVD drive on your PC by getting some drivers off the internet and then by getting WinDVD 8 Japanese version, just needs to be plugged into your computer and you're set

Oooh.....can you provide some links to that stuff? I may want to test drive it on the PC while I wait. :)

I'm sure that there will be a future US version of one software program or another that will enable HD-DVD playback. You can get the Japanese version of WinDVD8, but they have said that a future upgrade will add HD playback to the US version so I will just be patient. Also, you need to have a suitable monitor, CPU, video card, etc. to get the playback. All of those 1920x1080 frames per second give the computer a lot to think about.

Here's the link to the drivers:

And here's the link to get WinDVD 8 Japanese version (it's the only one with HD-DVD ability)

WinDVD 8

And yes, you do need a good computer to use it, they were using it on a cheap computer and it didn't play well, but for people with good computers it played fine.

Here's the link where they talk about it:

I'm pretty good with electronics, but I'd too freaking scared to take apart my hd-dvd adapter for my 360. I think I would just rather watch it with the xbox.

You dont have to take it apart, its USB, just plug it in.

Yeah, they only took it apart to see if they could directly hook up the drive to the computer but they couldn't because it has a weird hookup, so they had to just use it via USB which is a bit slower, but it works so that's fine. But I would expect that sometime in the future Microsoft might release an actual driver for it so you can use it better on the PC, either that or the price of drives will go down and then it won't make a difference.
