I sent him payment for his V2. I think I’m gonna have him do a prison/interrogation style for this second one while the V1 remains clean. Keep the two different. Similar to what he did here:

Now comes the hard decision as this is my first sculpt (apart from InArt/Hot Toys) I have no idea how to get it done.
Although Dio's V1 is the best Heath Joker sculpt I've ever seen so will likely ask for it to be painted in the same way.

I don't know about the new Hot Toys body but it will fit Inart body without any modding.

The fit is good, but the f'in ankles are awful. If I had an extra Inart body I would swap them just to make it more secure.
But that would mean I have to take the vest off and put it back on... God please no.

Ok so it’s no just me. The ankles are bad on m01. But the fit on the outfit & sculpt is perfect on m01.

You could replace the lower leg of the M01 with another more sturdy body.
Also wonderworld's pegs are trash, I think it doesn't help.

How much do you think it would be to commission Yixie to release another alternate of their sculpt, but with the smile? Curious if it would be cheaper than a whole head, similar to the “sleepy, toothy” sculpt.

I don't see why Yixie would lower the price, it's easy money for him. But it's worth a shot.
It is a little bit scammy to take someone else sculpt that they paid that much to modify it, Yixie should start over the entire thing or offer a big discount and ask the authorisation to the owner of the first project.

John commissioned the sculpt to Yixie, John gave his instructions and it was modified 4 times. Without John there's not "sleepy" headsculpt.
The sculpt belongs to John just like any headsculpt Yixie made for Hot Toys belongs to Hot Toys.

They’re both now actively producing variants, so both sides are affecting the original sculpt’s value. No one to blame. Both projects are in the works at the same time, John’s is just $40 more than Yi Xie’s.

Why blackball a sculpt with owners who have no ill intentions? You can be upset at your friend, but why paying customers. That’s honestly part of why I bought the sculpt.

It's not Yixie's, it's GNTE's. (It's the name he goes for on Wechat)

2 reasons to refuse working on that sculpt :

1 - It's your friend's project and he betrayed you by making it behind your back. (Not his friend anymore obviously)

2 - You're actively pushing your own project that is the direct competitor to his.

I mean... It's kinda the best move, If I get stabbed in the back by someone I'm not going to support him after.
And yes it's a shame for the paying customers, but it is what it is. It's GNTE's fault entirely, he's the one who started playing dirty.

The fact that you can only go for Yuan at the moment for GNTE's head because John won't do it means that you'll have to spend close to 1000$ for it while John's head will only be ~550$ all included... That's the decisive advantage he has.

A sculpt is a sculpt
when it’s made by the same artist.

If he sculpted it himself and didn’t hire Yi Xie, you’d have your point. Unfortunately Yi Xie sees no issue, I don’t see Yi Xie complaining about John’s V2. I’m sure John would happily work with Yi Xie again on something in the future. I’m not interested in drama, I’m interested in the best sculpts and clothing I can source.

People wanted a teeth sculpt, someone gave us one and did it the correct way by the original artist.

You're the one who started talking about drama, I was just replying to Captain and giving my opinion. It had nothing to do with John and GNTE.
