For the lipstick, he used Maybelline 49 rouge passion red. No idea if it's available to buy, but that's the reference you're looking to match.

Thank you, I was at a hobby store yesterday and was looking at enamel paints, but they had so many options I wasn’t sure which one to get.

No plans for right now, but I want to start painting Joker sculpts for myself. I wanna experiment with different painting techniques and see how difficult/challenging it is. Gotta pick up some paint, a proper airbrush and a few fine brushes, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to start but the plan is there.

Basically there's a chinese collector on a group who was suprised that I managed to order one as Zhang Yu (por.toys boss) refused to sell one to him even when he "begged" (his words) to buy one.
From what I understand he refused because there's not enough stock or something like that.
The price on taobao is 1299rmb (around 180$) for that version.

I asked at the same time to buy one and there was no such thing as not enough stock.
And the price i've been told is 300$ + shipping + taxes.
300 is almost double what Chinese collectors paid for it.
It's supposed to be sold out since the 21st of october but apparently it's not sold out to everyone.

The explanation we came up with is that he rather sell to a foreigner double the price than selling it to a chinese collector.

What a lame excuse, definitely looks like they are trying to profit off of foreigners. I love their work, but their business practices are shady.

They sell custom stuff for custom prices to some people and then sell mass produced versions of those same things to others for much cheaper.

They also sell exclusive limited heads/accessories outside of the limited run behind their clients backs.

I did notice that as well. They resell everything they make even for "limited" figures. Lol.
My d*mbass bought their Joker 2 figure before watching the sequel because I wasn't expecting it to take such a nose dive compared to the first film. Had great plans for Phoenix, but whatever that's beside the point, certainly learned my lesson there.

However to later find out that they are selling their "factory" version of that figure for $300 and around $180 on Taoboa and reselling all the other parts loose like the headsculpt, hands, suit and whatever else, pissed me off more than the movie being ass. Like who does that? What's the point of a limited run to later sell all the parts loose?

It's either very very bad communication and handling or he's trying to take advantage of people.

After all how would a client from France know about what is going on in China ?
He won't know that I'm making him pay much more.

He has a terrible reputation in the chinese and Korean community so I tend to trust my instinct and believe that there's clearly something scammy about all this.
Dude is just another gready a-hole.

I did a PayPal dispute and got my money back, if I ever get this it will be through one of my chinese friends directly, someone I can actually trust.

Well that explains everything. Always trust natives, they know their own people the best.

Whenever I'm on vacation to another country I always try to look for restaurants where natives eat, even if it's in some shady street. At least you know you're getting good stuff and aren't being charged ridiculous money for disgusting tourist food.

Yuan's sculpt arrived safe. On Christmas day!

I like that. Always eventful with Ledger.

It's a little stressful too, the thought of this fragile rooted custom head making its journey from halfway across the globe, in this time of the year no less.

I have to say, I'm impressed with the packaging. It feels premium (as it should). It's a wooden box with Yuan's brand, a slide cover, and a cushioned interior that holds the case. You can tell the guy takes pride in his work. I appreciate a good presentation.

I'd love to see how Heise packages his work. Does anybody know?

The sculpt hits a little different in person. The colors are darker than they appear in pictures. Closer to the screen actually.

Mine is 06 /50. There's a hose included that fits a ball joint. Not sure if that's provided by SeeArt or Yuan, but I'm guessing it's the former.

I haven't separated the sculpt from the case yet. I guess I should yank it off? I'll exercise caution when I do it.

the fun part about customs lol im certain the people who bought into his joker 2 figure set directly before artisan studio became a thing suffered with the price while i paid for 200 from elsewhere recently. although it came with a broken body, the seller has issued me a replacement body

not to single out the chinese of this hobby because majority of our **** comes from them but the experience my friend faced made me second guess my relations with the Chinese. I'm exclusively trying to work with korean artists now if possible because they seem to hold a higher reputation for themselves and I've had nothing but good experiences with them. dino, jeong, to name just a few.

not all of the chinese, but a handful of them are ******* weasels and thieves and will try to undercut foreigners. they have their own group chats where they parade around stolen work like its ******* gold. coas don't mean **** to them and that's what adam gu faced when he insisted on not making COAs for certain projects because it would get copied and someone nonethewiser would fall for paying thousands for a sculpture thinking its from the source.

some ******* printing studio under goodluck studio ripped my buddy's sculpt and a few others (terminator). his joker project was OOAK to himself as a testament to the love he has for KA kim's work and joker, but now who even knows who has his sculpt in china. it was never meant for distribution from the start, personal work because its a copy that he sculpted ground up for himself

some Chinese artists are nothing but shallow fakes. this is why I'm trying to save up to invest in a resin printer to avoid all of this middle man **** from china and just work directly with my friend to avoid thieves taking hard work from us.

I've had a bad experience with 12 Inch Chen, and Por to a lesser extent.

Gotta be wary of indonesians as well. With Unreal being the exception. He's the best I've dealt with.

im trying to think of other artists that are from Indonesia besides unreal

I've dealt with thai artists and they've been nothing but sweet, even though I'm waiting like 1.5 years for a 3rd sample for Michael Myers but I'm not pressed for time. rather have it be good than rushed

This is why we should always communicate with eachother on how much we’re quoted, how the transaction goes, transit time, issues with product, how those issues are settled, etc.

Little do they know, we have our chats also and word travels.

artists are the worst when they're greedy *****. its clear some of them arent in it for the artistry or work, just the money. its made me question why I would even go back to an artist if my experience wasn't good. i value communication over work, it leaves the mind to be more at ease

its become a more and more common thing with artists when they lose their passion and simply do it just out for the money because they've built a high reputation for themselves over time that losing some of it wont hurt and especially if it means it requires less work and corners to be cut

They act like they're doing you a favor. Not like you're paying them for their service.

The crazy thing is that the more the artist threat you right and respectfully the more you'll be understanding if there's a delay or something.
It's as simple as that, all we want is a little bit of communication.
We're humans not damn robots, let's treat eachother like humans.
