*Update for 04/18/13*

Hello everyone,

Just to update what is going on with Joker 2.0. Sideshow is receiving them in an "undetermined amount of split shipments" and they will be sent to their wholesale accounts as they turn up. Our first batch was only 12 figures, so we were unable to fulfill all pre orders on the first round. All boxed pre orders were shipped, and most of the part pre orders, but about 15 orders remain to be fulfilled. We made our best effort to fulfill them in the order we received them. If you did not receive a shipped notice for your pre orders, you are one who will, unfortunately, have to wait for the next batch. I've emailed Sideshow, but have gotten no word yet on when the next batch will show up. Please be patient with us as it is out of our control. We've waited this long, hopefully a bit longer won't be a problem.

Thank you all!

Got my extra Bane parts to make my 11th Bane. This version is gonna be the version where he saves Talia from the pit.

Next version, the part where Ras comes back to save him from the pit after he saves Talia from the pit.

:lol:lol:lol:rotfl

So you guys are still expecting more Jokers to take product pictures of and break down (outside of the preorders) right? What you've ordered and expect aren't all taken for the preorders?

It's just a matter of when Sideshow gets them to you (whenever they get them and send em out, like you said)?

This happened to A LOT of dealers over here in California. And I hate to say it but most are afraid they're not getting the rest of they're shipment. I really hope that's not the case for them or for you guys TA. Here's hoping the best for you guys. :exactly:

I need me some Joker shoes. :gah:

Yea from what I've heard is that's happening with lots of retailers all over. From what I hear SS is keeping more for themselves and dishing less out to retailers

I just don't get why there is a shortage in the first place. Retailers have to finalize their orders by a certain date, so its not like there isn't an idea of how many figures need to be made/ordered by Sideshow. As long as you get your orders in by the deadline, they should fulfill them IMO. Otherwise what is the point of even giving them a number if they are only going to send out what they want to send out? Seems like SS really needs to work something out with HT as far as their order numbers go.

That is a theory, but they've never shorted us on a confirmed order. They are only cutting new orders. They specifically said they are getting split shipments on Joker. I'm sure we'll get the rest, and yes, we'll part out more. Should have the unordered leftovers of this first 12 up tomorrow.

Yep, this is something they started doing this year. I hope this system backfires on them. It certainly has made several of their accounts unhappy, but what can you do when they are the only source for distribution? Kinda sounds like a monopoly right?

That's what happens when Sideshow's Authorized Re-Sellers undercut them by 10%-20% and now Sideshow is struggling to bring back their retail customers because they are losing business.

I believe the retailer discounts are a set amount from Sideshow themselves. I think retailers aren't allowed to discount items below 10% unless its a clearance item. Correct me if I'm wrong TA.

I'm no sure what is going on with this new system. Seems like they ought to be meeting demand since they don't have numbered limited editions on 1:6 figures anyway. They could make 100,000 of them and we'd never know.

If Sideshow wants to get anything done, they need to get Hot Toys to do something about THEIR supply chain. The fact that the overseas part out dealers get their stuff so soon, and offer free USPS ePacket shipping, before Sideshow and other domestic dealers get their stock is seriously messed up.

It just blows my mind that dealers in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and wherever can use USPS to offer free international shipping, but USPS just RAISED the rates for international shipping from the US

It's a buyer's market right now, the problem is no one has money to buy stuff.

The recasting stuff is a serious problem as well, but I don't think anything can be done about that.

Honestly, I don't have a very optimistic outlook on this hobby right now. I'm of the belief that Hot Toys' success has had some pretty serious unintended consequences, but I won't post a huge essay on that here. :p

Correct, offering new-ish product at a discount over 10% is grounds for losing an account.

What Hot Toys needs is competition. BTW, I like to call them "Hot Iron Man Toys" now. We need another company producing licensed figures at a high quality, and more frequently. There are several companies that are close such as Enterbay, but they are higher priced with fewer accessories making part outs more difficult. One of our favorites with potential is Blitzway. Their quality and price point and the amount of stuff they come with is the closest to Hot Toys we've seen. BUT, they've done a whopping 2 figures, both of which are Al Pacino. If they could just get more licenses and crank up the production, they could do wonders to add to the market.

Enterbay has been the only competition for Hot Toys. They have a serious case of p****-envy every time Enterbay tries to 1-Up them on Bruce Lee or Arnold. They immediately respond with a product to compete. If only Enterbay was cheaper than Hot Toys and had better QC and turnaround times which are worse than either Hot Toys or Sideshow. Art Figures is good too for the price. Heck, they will probably give us the rest of the Expendables crew.

Honestly, we feel the hobby still has a lot of potential. Our sales continue to be strong, but are limited to the amount of product we are able to order. There just needs to be more offerings. There's just a ton of accessories licensed and generic that could be made. There are many old and upcoming licenses that could be explored yet. The irritating part is several good licenses are tied up by companies that aren't doing anything with them.

Kl241 said jokingly (or not :wink1:) that we were asleep at the wheel, but honestly, our product is drying up. There are several figures we still have more of, but they are the ones that don't sell as we'll such as City Hunter, Metal Gear Boss, Bossk, and a few others, but the hot ones are all gone like any Avengers, Bane, etc. The other factor is that many figures we've ordered lightly on not knowing how well they'd do, are not reorder able after the initial order such as Gangster Kingdom. With so many different and new companies, we ave to order light because what if the product is crap quality. Then we're stuck with it.

Anyway, just a little insight for you all.
