Yeah this is an odd situation. If the demand is up, why not increase numbers? If demand is down, why limit retailers orders? It makes no sense either way to me.

My understanding of this is that the HT production runs are staying mostly the same, however, the number of retailers SSC distributes to is increasing, hence why they are cutting back per retailer orders.

Alternately, SSC is taking a larger cut of HT inventory to sell for themselves as they want a larger cut of the profit.

Either way, it sucks...it means I have even less of a chance to grab those breakdowns than I already did. :(

Dig this one! The Havoc was such a great vehicle.

I was already sort of leaning toward that conclusion with some of the new policies and enticements like free shipping on Hot Toys and stuff that they're using to get more retail purchases.

I've also noticed some changes in the policies of some of the big retailers of items sold by Sideshow, so that kind of clued me in as well. I don't hate Sideshow for it or anything, but I really do prefer to buy my stuff from an online retailer rather than directly. That's just my personal preference. I'd hate for my buying options to be limited or to see the customizing community get hurt due to the changes that are taking place.

I try to avoid buying directly from Sideshow whenever possible. They charge so much more even with free shipping you are not really saving anything and I can get a better deal elsewhere. Unless they have some exclusive I absolutely have to have. I think it has taken a bite out of their direct sales from customers and so they are having to cut out their affiliates to get some of their direct sales back.

I believe this to be true, but then what could Sideshows reason be for cutting our orders on Sideshow produced product ie Yoda Jedi Master? I tried to order 36, and was told I could only get 27. Seems ridiculous to me. Bottom line is they are hurting us significantly. Reduce our SC & HT inventory by 25% over a year, multiply that by the profit we'll lose, and that hurts our bottom line pretty significantly.

Bummer. Sounds like a monopoly of sorts.

Would carrying more of the other stuff like DAM, SS, DID, VTS, etc etc make a difference?

I'm looking at getting part outs from the VTS Dark Soldier set for example...

We try, but with so much more competition on the military stuff, it's hard to move enough of that product to justify buying more. We do always get anything we can of off brand figures, but Hot Toys and Enterbay are the only companies people are willing to pay more for. A lot of the money is in the heads and bodies, so if they aren't as good, that kills the profit in parting out off brand figures in a lot of cases. BTW, we have 3 new VTS figs on the way, prob next week.

GAAH! I had a Henry Jones bow-tie in my cart, and someone else scooped it before I could finish my checkout.

First time for me... now I understand the pain of others who have had this happen... :monkey2

No images for the Medi parts? They aren't loading for me.

This may have been asked before, but what do you guys over at TA factor in when you decide to break a figure down into loose parts. I know of course it has to be popular and with that comes profitable, but what else makes you guys decide. Like do you order a certain amount of one figure and set aside a number to sell as boxed and an amount for loose. Then as those boxed ones don't sell you break them down? Just curious how the best 1/6 parts retailer operates. It would be cool to see behind the scenes action videos of the magic taking place.

TA ROCKS!!
