The new design more like a 6. I appreciate that they are trying to have a more visually aggressive design, todays youth is mentally impotent and can only be stimulated through graphic visual violence and horror. This design fits perfecting into the "Saw" generation of horror fans.

Either way, its a good design, just not as great as the original.

Geez... you actually sounded intelligent just then :huh

Honestly think the new design is crap; not half as good as the original. Not creative and looks like a reject from a Marilyn Manson video.

Also, I don't get the same intensity or serious vibe that Pinhead had. He (like all the cenobites) was hardcore, this looks like an angsty goth kid :lol

I have my moments :lol

When I saw it the first thing that came to mind where the ghosts from 13 Ghosts. Like I said above he looks more like a mental patient who was left unattended in a janitors closet or something :lol

Yep, more self inflicted... whereas Pinhead looked like it had all be done to him, and he'd been like that for awhile.

And for gross, what about Chatterer... that is still an insanely f'd up design IMO.

This just makes me wish I had some kickass Hellraiser figures :monkey2

Chatterer is my fav design. Something about his exposed teeth and gums has always been unnerving to me.

And that he has no eyes... guy is totally f'd, and would probably be easy to run away from. But still scary as hell :lol

Ditto... Chase speaks true wisdom here. :lecture

We'll see... but I have my doubts that they will maintain in this remake what Pinhead is all about. This guy doesn't look like a prophet. I like that the cuts are deeply separated and I like that the nails are thicker, but it needs more nails and lacks any elegance.

One thing that would be nice, and probably would look best cgi rather than an appliance, is if while Pinhead talked his wounds continued to seep blood. And hopefully the actor plays him calm. A calm dude preaching at you about pleasure in sacrifice while bleeding profusely with nails in his face is scary.

At first glance I prefer the original design, it managed to convey the mixture of horror, but also the elegance of it, the symmetry worked perfectly with Doug Bradley's voice. Having a horrific yet regal appearance to it. That made Pinhead not just a monster but an intelligent calculating creature.

Baker's original design centered on an S&M type quality - which made the movie so ground-breaking when it came out cause that was definately taboo in the 80's. This new design is very "today" and therefore is not ground-breaking in any way.

I am leary of any Hellraiser remake.....just look at all the sequels (minus #2) no one can get it right. For some reason the Cenobite concept is hard for other people besides Baker to convey.
