The thing is, Hot Toys isn't that creative with their figures anymore, especially ones from older, classic licenses. There's so many "cool ideas" that they could implement or include that they just don't anymore.

All those things for the Joker would be quite cheap to do too. A beret, different ties, and other paraphernalia would have been a lot cheaper than sculpting a huge base of the City Hall steps with a low-res, cheapo background. :lol

That's what I mean, ****, almost 90% of the stuff it would require for commercial Jack is cheap, cardboard paper goods and **** :lol, and, yet, people would probably still want it, because it's fun, it's iconic, for fans of the movie, anyway, and, all in all, I think they'd just be happy to see another Joker. You're right, though. It seems like the HT of old, who would literally make an effort to make The Godfather's cat more accurate is no more.

****, I was even thinking about the interviews and stuff, today. Don't you miss getting some vague, bull**** answer from Howard, as opposed to nothing at all?:lol It has to have been, at least, a year, if not moreso, since anyone got any of those interviews down.

It's because Hot Toys is huge now and the focus is on Disney licenses.

Smaller companies will try and attempt more stuff. They're forced to be creative. Then communication? A small company like Asmus or ACI go into threads personally to get feedback and reach out to their customers. You have NECA on Twitter everyday communicating with their customers (as opposed to a place like, I dunno, Hasbro).

Hot Toys is more corporate with brands now, which is understandable. It's bottom line stuff.

Was that in reference to my first point or my second point? Or both? As far as the interviews go, I suppose that, too. When, seemingly, every pop culture site has, at least, one story about Hot Toys, I suppose that they no longer feel the need to communicate with lowly collectors.:lol It sucks ass, though. What I wouldn't give for some closure, even, with the '66 Batmobile, Arkham Joker, etc.

The fact is that Jack wore the same outfit, or a derivation of it, quite a bit, but that doesn't mean there isn't potential for cool variants. Honestly, part of me would've loved to see TV Commercial Jack with his Beach chair, "sunny" backdrop, handkerchief, seagulls, and sunglasses:

He could also come with his shopping cart full of assorted "Joker" brand products, "love that Joker" girl cardboard standees, and a grocery aisle on the flipside of the backdrop:

I'd love a Brand Xsssssssss version :lol

Instead of "go advanced" I hit "post reply". I added more.

I gotcha. Still blows, though. :lol I definitely understand what you're saying about the corporate mentality, though. I can't help but wonder if we'll ever come back from this. Star Wars, Marvel, DC; I think the HT that did stuff like Inglorious Basterds is dead and buried.

I'd love a Brand Xsssssssss version :lol

The one I'd like to see is First Appearance Jack, with his fingerless gloves/grimey fingernails, acid damaged suit, bloody newspaper, and, **** it, a desk and chair, instead of a base.:lol Also, the purple stain on his neck.:lecture

If Hot Toys' second Joker had been a mob or museum variant, people would have rightfully described it as lazy and an easy cash-grab (like the Adam West variant Batman, with slightly different colors), since most of the clothing is the same as DX08.

Of all the outfits that he wore in that movie, the "Mime" was easily the most different from the DX08 clothing. Mime Joker was the right way to go for their second Joker, both artistically and commercially. The only problem was the outrageous price, coupled with an (understandable) lack of accessories.

I like all the variants as much as anyone, but if we were only ever going to get two, I'm glad we got the main outfit and the Mime. If I want others, it's relatively easy to bash them from DX08.

I agree with you about the Museum version being same old and hold hat, but not the Mob. I think out of all the outfits, the Mob version would have been the most different and the best candidate as a second version. The Mime has almost the same exact tailoring and clothing as the DX 08. The only difference? Black and white cloth. The Mime joker's face even has the clown look with the white face, red lips and green hair, albiet slightly different as par the scene.

The Mob version? All new gangster look with a normal "face". Cool, unique pinstripe jacket and pants. All new tie, all new shoes. The best part? Jack Nicholson as the Joker adorned in eerie flesh toned make up and brown hair. Plus, I'd take the buzzer hand from a key scene over a couple of feather pen quills any day.

It is what it is though. Mime was fine, I guess. I don't mind it as a basic figure. Ideally, it would have been nice if the DX 08 originally came with all the Museum and commercial stuff, especially when you think about the $260 MSRP price tag. What more would there have been? A second messy face, a beret, two ties, sunglasses and some cardboard pieces/props right? That's not a whole lot. Then they could have had the Mime as a single release and the Mob as a single release (which could be used with the DX 08 with that flesh face) and it'd be a nice trinity of figures.

It really sucks that Hot Toys is the only game in town when it comes to Jack Nicholson as the Joker because of the whole cost of likeness rights and such. I'm glad we got two of them, it's better than nothing, but it would have been nice if Hot Toys had taken advantage of buying those expensive rights and put out atleast one more variant that involved the flesh tone make up or something like they intended when all this was new. Either that, or some other company would pony up the cash and make something too. A company like NECA would have a field day with all those similar variants he had and definitely make use of the molds. Nicholson is out of their price range though.

Sometimes, I really hate HT's logic. Jack got the same shaft that West Batman did, as far as I'm concerned. They make the stupidest damn decisions and then use that as their justification for how a property isn't viable, and it's just colossal bull****. I like Mime Joker, too, but you don't think sales would've been better had it been Mob Scene Joker, Museum Joker, Commercial Joker, or one of the numerous other potential variants that appeared for more than 30 seconds? I still hope they try to do something else for '66 since the general consensus is that the "comic book" variant Batman is just ****ing stupid.:lol

I don't like it either, man, but every instance of a figure like RoboCop sitting on a shelf in Asia or in a warehouse in Thousand Oaks, waiting for yet another huge discount, just reinforces Howard's decision to stick primarily with Iron Men and Stormtroopers.

The museum version is a lot more iconic than the mime version though. I think the complaining would have stopped instantly if the figure came with an expression like the one in DiFabio's avatar.

whats the going price for one of these ?? I saw one of these for $358..free shipping ...
There are better deals to be had than that. Great figure that commands a lower than expected price. I've been seeing them go for anywhere from $250 to maybe $300.

Accessory laden, top notch tailoring and one of HT's best ever sculpts. This is seriously up their on my list of Holy Grail figs.

I'm an accessories freak too, so I can't wait. Hopefully have time to pose this weekend. [emoji106]
