I never did get the DX08, so i picked up the MARSTOYS version. It's decent enough for the price, but is let down by the horribly painted eye balls and the badly engineered PERS system. I don't know if others had the same issue, but mine barely moved. One of the eye sockets was also badly cut out, leaving a small gap to one side.

Anyways i repaired the socket with some Milliput and repainted it. Replaced the eye balls with some HT ones, and touched up the eyebrows.

Still, when compared to ScoobyBoo's great pics of the DX08, the shortcomings on this version are very noticeable...
It does look very nice on the shelf though:cool:

looks like the 2.0 reissue is an improvement from the first release, especially in terms of tie and possibly the head sculpt itself? this is the two head sculpt side by side with each other. personally still think the dx08 is a far superior figure just from the tailoring and fit to the body alone, but some people aren't keen to drop $500 for the dx08 when they can get the cheaper affordable alternative

That 3rd picture is the best looking photo of the mars toys figure i have ever seen, great job!

Given the new tech that HT has, if they are indeed thinking about reissuing the Keaton Bats figure, I wonder if they could do something like they've done with Affleck Bats in terms of using some type of fabric with muscle "padding" instead of going the full rubber route? Of course that would mean HT put some effort into the release rather than the quick cash grab.

Wouldn't that make it not screen accurate? Plus I prefer them to stay as far away as anything similar to the Bat Fleck figures suit material as possible, those latex always peel off (worst and harder to manage than pleather imo) after a certain amount of time unless you hit them with coat

keep the rubber suit. but sculpt a specific and brand new body for keaton instead of using fat suits. main reason the body can't move is that the fat suit hinders it. that'll be an improvement they can work upon and their pers system, but i think theyve reverted back to the point of using separate joy sticks. ive lost faith in hot toys producing good capes so idont expect them to put out a good cape.

but like nm said, keep away from batfleck material. the rubber on the dx09 surprisingly holds up really well even under a bit of stress

Sort of. If I remember correctly, the original suit wasn't full rubber though, but rather rubber armor/muscle parts on top of a spandex type suit. and I'm not saying to do the sticky screen printing that HT does on the Affleck/Cavill/Spiderman suits. Just the technique of soft foam type muscles that are sewn/glued onto the underside of the suit since this version of Keaton's suit has more organic type armor than the Returns suit. Now that you've helped me remember though, I think going the route of the real suit rather than full rubber could/would be better from an accuracy and articulation stand point.

It's not just the fat suit but the weak-ish joints of the underlying body as well. If they stick with the full rubber suit, they need to update the body with ratchet joints at the very least. I just think they could do more to be more accurate than encasing the whole thing in rubber and calling it a day. If that was the case, we'd still have full rubber TDK Batman suits instead of the mix media versions we've had since the DX12.

I think you guys might've misunderstood what I was saying/meaning. I said "some type of fabric with muscle padding" not "the same" type of fabric as the Batfleck figures. They did something similar on the recent Vision figure from WandaVision where the entire torso muscles are part of the suit and not a result of the underlying body. It think if done right, it could look great.

So essentially kinna like the new Black Adam body right? Yeah that I do see potentially them doing, but it's DC so I don't expect too much from HT. Hopefully someone like IA could potentially tackle it that way, would be interesting

For sure. I was even unsure of posting my thoughts/ideas b/c that would require HT actually put some effort into it. They seem to pick the oddest figures at times to really show their stuff with and then ones you'd think would be knock outs b/c of the character/actor, HT just phone it in on. You just never know with them these days unfortunately.

Those are some pretty cool options if you’re a big Nicholson fan. Especially the museum scene. The normal sculpt could also work for the mob scene.

I like my Mars Toys Joker but am surprised they didn't make any additions to the HT recast.

Could have improved the hat hair, made it more accurate green. Maybe a 2nd sculpt.

Museum sculpt looks great but I'd still like another regular makeup option.

Love the mob Jokers. I don’t care for the scene specific laughing sculpt for a museum Joker. I’d much rather have something like the mob version with that paint app. Very nice looking overall though.
