Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Further, if your going to pay $200 for a figure from a film I'd imagine you'd have already scene the film by now...

Not everyone has seen it yet for various reasons. It has not released in all territories yet. It has not even been a week yet.

Also, check this thread out: https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113686

OMG NO WAI! A spoiler thread where you can discuss the film?! :panic:

I've been complaining about ppl not using spoiler tags so I would've if I thought what I posted was a spoiler. That is why I asked if Zach thought what I posted was a spoiler so I could use the tags if necessary. :) I didn't forget

Well I didn't consider what I said a spoiler. Sorry if it was.

WTF with the Bane DX talk that has somehow persisted throughout 1500 posts? Is it said with irony? 'Cause no way is this character or actor DX material, you're dreamin'.

Opinions are all subjective. You may not believe so but the fact remains he would sell if a dx was offered with multiple costumes and accessories. Plus even though I am no fan of pers this character may benefit from pers. Now I do think Tom hardy is one of the better actors today but again that is a subjective opinion and others may not agree.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

"DX material" as of late appears to be Hot Toys' way of correcting errors on the original figure while collecting double, sometimes triple the profit (the new Joker is the 2nd DX/3rd figure for that character). :lol

Objectively speaking, Bane as a screen character is hardly iconic. A Bane DX would stand out in the current DX line-up like dog's balls. Ledger Joker, Bale Batman, Bruce Lee, Ford's Indy, Hamill's Skywalker, Nicholson's Joker, Keaton's Batman, Michael Jackson, Arnold's T-800, Depp's Sparrow... and Tom Hardy's Bane?

A DX Bane may very well sell, but he's hardly the broad-appeal character that Joker and Batman are. Few people would ever have heard of Hardy 'til now, however solid he is as an actor. This is a character largely for the completist, not a single flagship character that one could happily have sitting all on its own on a shelf.

Outside of the walls of this thread, a Bane DX is laughable, and probably only talked about here because it alleviates some of the disappointment Bane fans have in being sold a rush-job by HT.

Precisely 50% of all DX's so far have been Batman related.

Bane DX is a possibility if the regular Bane sells REALLY WELL. Not least because 80% of Tom Hardy's Bane performance was in the eyes.

Well yeah, a possibility, sure, but would you put money down on that possibility? Batman has had a good showing in the DX line-up (half of them?! ) but even a casual Batman fan like me can see that those DX'd characters are screen icons. Where Bane was merely a serviceable character - solid, but not as dynamic as Ledger & Bale, Nicholson and Keaton.

Yes, but eczamurai was making the point that he had felt the pain before so why would he be whimpering. Although he had felt pain before he hadn't felt fear before.

Fear + pain = whimpering.

Good points, guess he felt cornered. Makes sense, Thanks.

Nah wouldn't put money on it.

If Bane v1 goes gangbusters (and they don't improve upon it), then i'd put money on it.

Were I a huge Bane fan I'd be bummed at the irony of wanting an awesome Bane figure whose production was somehow dependent on the success of a less awesome Bane figure.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I think the word "prototype" is very much applicable for this figure right now. I wouldn't be surprised if the figure goes through some major revamps. At least I hope it would.

It's hard to say at this point. This seems like it's a real banner year for Hot Toys...a lot of major licenses with a lot of announcements and PO's (6 from just "The Avengers") and a steady stream of figures coming down the pike. One has to wonder if they aren't getting over-extended a bit and rushing things through just to keep up....

With all of the observations about this Bane figure's outfit/gear differences from the prototype figure that's currently pictured and how he appears in the film, well, it does beg the question of at what stage this prototype was rendered...was it during pre-production of the film, when there was nothing more than production art and some early costume renderings for HT to base their designs off of? Might be the case, considering the many differences to the colors and dimensions of Bane's gear (the strap placement and widths are the most apparent).

It reminds me of that early "Dark Knight" Joker release, that looked like a stand-in for the character....and HT successfully went back to that character with great success....in fact, they're not done yet, with another new DX figure on the horizon...

It would be cool to see/hear if there is to be any adjustments to the Bane based on the film appearance or...if this is it for this version of the character. There are certainly many more options for additional outfits/gear for different releases (a "Stock Exchange Raid" version, similar to the Bank Robber Joker, featuring Bane in his Biker gear with a laptop computer accessory could be cool) or a lavish DX version featuring just about every conceivable accessory and outfit/gear he featured in the film...

I like the character and Hardy's portrayal is memorable... layered with menace and intensity. I hope that if this is the only figure HT renders of this character that they do make some adjustments to bring him closer to what we see in the film. The head sculpt and mask are awesome, really well done...now just bring the outfit up to that level and it would be outstanding instead of just "good"....

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

figure is disappointing considering the great work hot toys is capable of. seems like this will get a dx release.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I preordered one, it looks good to me, not sure whats not acurate but HT will likey fix it. He was badazz in the film and will be posed in a faceoff with batman in the display cabinet.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

wtf. Bane is going to be a huge seller are you kidding me. He was the best character in the movie, better then Batman. Banes performance was scary awesome. Harvey Dents character was nothing compared to the awesomness of Bane.

Hey don't get me wrong I thought Bane was amazing and I will definitely be getting this figure but I just don't see him becoming a DX he's not the joker...

I'm definitely bummed at the irony, that's why I don't think it's likely to happen.

HT will likely remain lazy, not fix this version, it won't sell as well as it could have, case closed.

Until EB or a customizer does a more accurate Bane

:lol
