Some of the concept art shows that the helmet used to have a dome over the opening, kind of like a space suit. I was actually still expecting that to be a part of this, but I guess it got cut along the way. Probably better it did for display purposes. I also thought she was going to come with an unmasked sculpt, but I'm INCREDIBLY happy that they went with the more human look as an alternate display. I mean, even if I don't end up getting it, I think that's a huge plus to the figure.
When I say companion piece to Machiko, I don't fully mean that they're fighting side by side in this world. I think the AvP logo is just because that's the easiest place to throw this into that's recognizable with the license. You're not going to stick her with the official Alien logo...we think fans are flipping out now, imagine if they did that!
AvP is the safe bet for a more expanded universe, and I meant it more as though the two are both "sexy warriors" in their own realms.
I don't believe that this is an actual Xeno skull that she's using for a helmet...I believe the outfit is designed. Clearly they expect the Xenos to attack her from behind, which is why most of the armor went there. That's the only reason!
She's got a massive Space Jockey-esque gun, and is quite futuristic looking, so I'd bet that the tail is functional as part of the suit...not an actual living piece of her body. I'd say the same thing about hte gloves. They were likely designed to just give her more of a Xeno look overall, over just having human hands. But again, I agree that the swap out option would've been ideal to have!
I think the lack of lore hurts this character as well from a selling point. She's a completely unique design from an artists interpretation. Machiko has books about her, with plenty of character development. With this one just being "Alien Girl," it really does take away from her having some sort of personality. I think giving her an actual name would've been somewhat beneficial, but maybe I'm being silly.
