If you have the deluxe mind dressing up the sideshow with the proto parts and putting it besides esb hot toys? I'd greatly appreciate it as I'm continplating keeping my sideshow

I don't have the Sideshow. Could never stand the lime green.

To me, the more important comparison is to the actual Boba Fett. And on that front, neither company has put together a Fett that is as screen accurate as it could/should have been. Using Jaycepticon's photo, and a pic of movie Fett:

Whether it's chest armor size, jumpsuit fit, cape length, body proportions, gauntlet size/proportions, range finder height, shoulder armor placement, gloves, pouches being wrong, and on and on . . . improvements made are nice, but is it producing a Fett figure that looks like the movie version?

Eh, most of that doesn't concern me, but I do agree the proportions could be a bit better. It's always looked to me like the figures were a little too short and squat, and that comparison just makes it more apparent.

Let’s be honest...there isn’t really a Hot Toys figure which is 100% screen accurate. They come extremely close, but there is always nagging issues with proportions, outfit material, likeness, etc. As far as I’m concerned they are the best and most accurate consumer Star Wars producs on the market, and that is good enough for me.

I should note that I immediately added the slightly longer ankle pegs. Even if the height is accurate to begin with I felt that that helps with the proportions (he comes with the smallest pegs so it was just the next size up).

There’s no doubt these figures are still several steps removed from the actor in a suit, but some of what is seen in that movie still proportion-wise is camera angle (from down low) and helmet angle.

I’ll try to see how best I can match that later.

Hot Toys looks a lot better than SSC. There's things about the Hot Toys I don't like. Fett is the hardest costume by far to nail and I can't imagine it can be done in ant scale commercially.

Just looking again at the photos, the chest armor is too padded as likely is the thigh area if the ROTJ version is any indication. Those could star slimming him down a bit. I’m sure we’ll see this as the base for some far closer customs.

But I’m guessing the helmet is a tad too big, maybe too long. Tough to tell — not a Fett fanatic here. Where’s Rubio??

When mine arrives, I'm fully expecting to have to make a new custom body and do a ton of futzing.

Out of all the SW characters, Fett is probably the most difficult to get looking like a "man in a suit." As someone said above, it just isn't possible with this character on a mass produced scale. The best you can hope for is a company nailing the screen accuracy of individual pieces scale-wise (Medicom being an issue for example), sculpt-wise (accuracy and sharpness of detail) and color-match wise, then it's up to you to do the rest.

Every new Fett release does yield a new grouping of "nailed" parts - for example on this one the pistol holster looks spot-on. I just scratch built the exact holster for my Bespin Guard figure (the Besp Guard and Fett had the same diver holster in ESB with only minor differences) and the HT ESB Fett holster looks perfect next to the ref pics I used. The HT ESB Fett looks to me like it's delivering the largest number of "nailed' parts of any 1/6 Fett release, so well worth getting.

The SSC Mythos Fett is looking good so far too (helmet especially noteworthy at least in sculpt department,) but SSC has such a significant gap between proto and production in so many ways, it's impossible to judge at this point how much will be nailed on that fig.

just bit the bullet and ordered the deluxe on ebay for $270 shipped (there’s a $25 coupon off $119 purchase or more today - PRIMO119)

I've already got this on PO with BBTS but have been tempted to pick one up on eBay to get it earlier. Unfortunately, the few sellers I've contacted appear not to be authorized resellers, which I think could pose a problem if there's a defect with the figure.

Oh thats definitely a risk with buying from ebay. I got the Animated Fett off ebay, and it came factory sealed but was missing his pistol holster. Basically I got screwed on that since my only option would be to ship it back to China for a refund (which I’m not really comfortable with). But honestly stuff like that rarely happens. That’s the only time it’s happened with me, and I’ve been buying stuff on ebay for a looooong time lol

Crotch armor shape is off.

I can picture it now....

HT designer: Howard, we've made the crotch armour accurate but the height and width of it is impacting on articulation.

Howard: Hmmm, well I know that lot hates limited posability otherwise they'd just buy statues. Ok, change the shape to give the legs more freedom.

Figure gets released...

"Crotch armour shape is off. Hot Toys suck!"

:)

Can the cod piece be pulled down a little to better match the way the on-screen costume was worn?

Just got mine. I love it. The paint app on the helmet is fantastic and the suit is bluer than the picture suggests. It actually looks more blue in artificial light vs sunlight. I think I prefer it over the RotJ release, but I intend to keep both. I only got the standard release, since I would only have displayed him in his ESB guise.

I think once certain people on here start to futz and mod this figure we’re really going to see some great “man in a suit” pictures.

was 100% planning to only display this in the pp1/pp2 garb and keep the esb parts on the off chance i wanted to switch it up, but these esb shots look so good, i'm trying to convince myself i don't need a regular to display as well.

The effort to match the weathering on the helmet and armor pieces is pretty impressive.
